Oh my! It’s December already. Where did the time go? My husband and I were just talking about sitting on our balcony watching the Fourth of July fireworks display at a local baseball park (we have a great view of their fireworks). Now it’s almost the end of the year. How did that happen?
We’re still shopping for the holiday season – for gifts and for stocking stuffers.
My kids are much older now (19 and 17). Long gone are the days when a new box of crayons and small toys would excite them when found in their stockings. As they have grown, the stocking stuffers have changed. These days I stuff them with gift cards to their favorite stores (small denominations – nothing crazy), beauty products (for our daughter), cologne for son and similar items.
Our daughter goes crazy over beauty products, as most young girls do. Facial care products, make up, perfume, hair care products… she loves them all. Our son… not so much. All he uses to wash his face is soap and water.
Thankfully our son was blessed with good skin. He barely ever pimples, even when he was younger. Our daughter suffered from bad acne and had to see a Dermatologist on a regular basis for it.
Men’s skin is just like women’s skin. It’s no different. It’s made the same way. For that reason I don’t understand why men don’t use facial products like facial washes and lotions. It’s not “unmanly” to care for your skin. In fact, it’s the right thing to do.
Neutrogena has several products made especially for men. In fact, I was sent some to review by the brand. I gave some to my husband to try. The rest I’ll put in my son’s stocking (along with the usual goodies he gets). I figure if he saw his father using the products he’d be more likely to use them too.
I was sent the following products.
I think this was the biggest challenge to get my husband to try. He didn’t feel like he needed lotion. I reminded him that winter is coming and his skin does get a bit a bit chaffed when he’s out in the cold. He also wears sunscreen when he knows he’s going to be outside for a while. Sunscreen, even made for the face, can be heavy and clog pores. I told him that with this lotion he’s not only keeping his skin hydrated and mositurized, it also has a built in SPF whihc won’t leave his skin feeling heavy or greasy.
He tried it, and he likes it. He keeps forgetting to put it on, but once I remind him he applies some.
I grew up washing my face with just regular soap and water. It does get the job done, but it also dries out your skin and doesn’t really have any benefits to it.
My husband uses this twice a day – once in the morning (unless he shower, then he still uses just soap) and agan at night. Again, I have to remind him sometimes because he’s not used to using product, but he doesn’t seem to mind
He admits that he likes this face wash compared to soap. He likes that his skin doesn’t feel as “tight” as it does with regular soap. He also said his face feels cleaner.
My husband didn’t know why this was necessary. I told him it’s because we need to rid our skin and pores of dried skin cells and “gunk” that gets trapped in our pores.
This product is also made to help with shaving. He hasn’t noticed a difference as of yet, but he has tried it twice so far and he said he likes how his skin feels afterwards (“super clean” to quote him).
My son is gradually warming up to the idea. I asked him if he would use the products. He said he would try them. That’s good to know because I’ll be putting them in his stocking this year.
