Whenever I think of the film The LEGO® Movie, I can’t help but think of the song “Everything is Awesome.” The film actually was pretty awesome. I honestly didn’t think I was going to like it but after I saw it I was totally into it. It had something for everyone and both young and old alike could enjoy it.
A new LEGO film is coming to theaters this Friday – LEGO Batman. From the promos I’ve seen this film is going to be a blast, just like the first film.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO® Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
Will Arnett reprises his starring role from The LEGO Movie as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis (“Muppets Most Wanted,” the “Hangover” films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s “Arrested Development”) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s “Daredevil”) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films) as Alfred.
It looks really funny. Check out the trailer.
I find it amazing how the filmmakers can take a popular children’s TOY and turn it into a funny, action packed, animated film.
I grew up watching Batman, the television series that stared Adam West. It aired before I was born and when I was a baby, so I only watched repeats of the series when I was older. It was corny, but I loved it.
I remember Batman in the first LEGO movie. I would have never thought about offering him his own film. I wonder if the filmmakers plan on making other LEGO character movies in the future? That would be fun! I’m looking forward to them doing something like that.
The film will be released nation wide this Friday. Look for it at a theater near you. In fact, you can grab your partner in crime and make a date to see #LEGOBatmanMovie and purchase advanced tickets here – http://tickets.legobatman.com/.
