A Disney Holiday Classic Now Available on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Download

Disney's Mickey's Christmas Carol

I am super excited to let readers know a delightful Disney holiday classic that is now available on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Download, just in time for the holiday season – Disney’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary Edition.  This film will make a great gift AND a wonderful addition to your family’s holiday movie collection.

First of all I can’t believe that Disney’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol is 30 years old! I remember watching it when I was a kid, as well as watching it with my own children. I can’t believe thirty years has passed already. Sigh… I hate getting older.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol is based on the timeless classic, A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens. It stars Donald Duck as Scrooge, Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit and other Disney characters who play the various roles in the film (ghosts, Cratchit’s family, villagers).

I’m pretty sure that most people are familiar with the story, so there is not need to give a description.

I adore this movie. I think it’s the perfect version of the story to watch with younger children. Some versions of A Christmas Carol are too dark and sinister for little ones (especially when the ghost of Christmas future pays a visit). This version is much more “family friendly”. Plus it’s wonderful to see familiar Disney characters pop up in the various roles.

Check out this brief clip from the film.

The Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Download copy contains plenty of bonus features including several short animated clips.

    • Yodelberg – This is brand new (2013) unlike the other bonus clips which are much older. Mickey tries to visit Minnie, who is living atop of a mountain, but he must battle an avalanche and a Yeti to get there. I actually saw this one on the Disney Channel.
    • The Hockey Champ – Donald Duck competes against his nephews in a game of hockey.
    • Pluto’s Christmas Tree – Mickey sets up the Christmas tree unaware that there are little holiday visitors inside. Pluto tries to expose them but Chip & Dale are always one step ahead of him.
    • The Art of Skiing – Goofy goes to Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, to learn how to ski. This is a silly “instructional” video (not for real).
    • Corn Chips – Donald cons Chip ‘n’ Dale into shoveling his snowy sidewalk, and ends up shoveling popcorn.

There are also a few sing along songs your family can enjoy too.

Look for both Disney’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary Edition, available on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Download where ever movies are sold.

Another Disney holiday film, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year is also available today on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Download.

Here is another Disney holiday clip for your enjoyment.
