I am a very sentimental person. I enjoy pouring myself over old photos of family and friends from my youth. They bring back such wonderful memories.
Sadly I grew up in a time that just had cameras to capture life’s special moments. We even had to use film and wait for a week for the film to be developed. Can you imagine people having to do that these days? LOL!
I wish there were more photos of me as a child. I also wish I had a video or two of me as a child. I would have to hear how I sounded and see how I was as a little girl.
As a parent I took A LOT of pictures of my kids – video too. We even have a few sound files of our kids voices. I love listening to sound files and watching old videos of my son with his cute little voice. We always joked that he would sound like singer Barry White when he hit puberty – and we were right! He has a very deep voice.
I’m glad that video cameras have decreased in size compared to the one we had when our kids were little. We had one of the video cameras that took a VHS tape. Do you remember those?
These days, thankfully, video cameras are smaller and more portable. Plus you get instant gratification by being able to not only view the videos you create instantly, but you can also share with family and friends right away too.
I use my cellphone to capture video, but sometimes that is not always possible. There are times when my phone is not readily available to me. I also have a problem with storage issues on my phone (long story) so I have to keep things on my phone to a minimum.
I was recently introduced to a fun product from Logitech that I think would be a “must have” to take with you on your summer adventures and beyond. It’s called Bemo.
Bemo is not just a little, portable video camera – it’s more of a social video camera that allows you to capture and share your videos right away.
Bemo features an 8 megapixels camera (my phone is only 5 megapixels) and a 720p HD video recorder, which is great for capturing life’s precious and unexpected moments.
Bemo is very small. It fits in the palm of your hand. You can easily tuck it inside your pocket, purse, backpack or wear it around your neck with the included lanyard. With Bemo there is no fumbling around looking for your smartphone and setting up the shot. Bemo is ready when you are. Simply press the button and record. You don’t have to be a “rocket scientist” to understand how to use it. It’s so simple even a young child can shoot quality videos with Bemo.
Bemo is meant to capture moments – not your child’s 5th grade concert or your best friend’s wedding. Bemo shoots one minute videos. Think of it as the perfect camera for Instagram and Vine. Shorter videos are also easier to upload and share (long videos take too long as far as I’m concerned).
Bemo has it’s own app (free) where you can upload your videos and edit them. The app allows you to add music, play around with filters and even edit your videos. You could turn them into “mini-movies” with all the fun features the Bemo app has. Once you are satisfied with how it looks you can share them on social media or message them to family and friends.
Bemo comes with a USB charging cord, laynard and a micro SD card that allows you 3 hours of recording time. I believe once you upload the video/videos to the app they are removed from the card (I’m not 100% positive of that, but I believe that is the case) which frees up room on the SD card.
I think Bemo is great for summer time because it’s splash proof so trips to the pool or the beach won’t be a problem. You want to remember cherished time with family and friends, so why not use Bemo to capture those special moments whether it’s your child’s first visit to the beach, enjoying S’mores camping or learning to swim in your backyard pool.
When I received Bemo to review my teenage son took it from me immediately. He’s really into film making (he wants to be a filmmaker when he’s older) and he loves technology.
Once he charged up the Bemo he was having a great time shooting videos of our cats, dog, and things going on outside our building. I think he took video of just about anything and everything.
I know he enjoyed using the app to play around with the videos. I think that was his favorite part. I liked to try out all the app’s features.
My son didn’t keep any of his videos (or share them). He just wanted to play around with Bemo and the Bemo app to see what it can do.
Once I was able to get it back from him (and recharge it), I was able to try it out.
Bemo is super easy to use. There is a bit spot on the body where you press to shoot the video.
The shape of the Bemo reminds me of a minion from Despicable Me. LOL!
One thing I wasn’t overly keen about is that you can’t really see what you are video taping until you upload the app. You can’t view it ahead of time so you don’t know if you had Bemo at the right angle until you upload the video to the app. A few of my videos were not pointing in the right direction, so I ended up cutting off some of the subject matter I was taping. Once I did it a few times I got a better feel for it.
I wish you could view the videos directly from Bemo. You can only view them in the app. That is not a problem, but it is when you don’t have the app on your phone. My husband doesn’t have the app so he has to wait until he’s home and has access to my phone (which has the app) so he can see what he video taped.
I like Bemo better than those sports action video cameras. Bemo is more for the “average Joe” who doesn’t want to video tape their motorcycle ride but rather your child blowing bubbles on a sunny afternoon. It’s also a lot easier to use (“user friendly”) than those other cameras.
Bemo is a great video camera for teens and college age students who enjoy snapping videos for social media. The added “bells and whistles” that come with the app are much better than ones available to you on social media.
Bemo is made by Logitech and retails for $129.99. It’s available in different colors – Manhattan Black, Moroccan Red and Mykonos Blue (the color we have).
If you would like to learn more about Bemo please visit MyBemo.com. You can also find Bemo on Facebook and Twitter (MyBemo on both).
What do you think about Bemo? Does it sound like something you would enjoy having on your family’s summer adventures and beyond?
