“Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?” – Ian Wallace, Author.
I love that quote. It’s a favorite quote of mine.
I’ve always “marched to the beat of my own drum,” so to speak. I’m not one to “keep up with the Jones.” I honestly don’t care what kind of car people drive or what labeled clothing they wear. That is not me. That is not who I am.
I have a quirky personality and I make no attempt to hide that. If you walk into my home and see my desk (the one I blog from every day) it does not look like the desk of a grown up, forty-something year old woman. It looks more like a child’s desk, or a desk a teacher would have in a classroom or daycare setting. My desk is covered with toys and knick knacks that have a special meaning to me.
A few examples of the things you’ll see on my desk are my robot from the Real Steel movie, a bottle of glitter that says “Pixie Dust” on it, my La La Loopsey Doll, a skull filled with vodka (I can’t remember the brand off hand), plenty of Fisher Price Little People (I love them! I collect them) and my Misty and Stormy horses from Beyer.
Not only do these things have memories attached to them, they also show off my personality. I’m a fun person. I don’t want to “grow up.” I plan on being young at heart even when I’m 100 years old (God willing I live a long time).
You can show off your personality in many ways, from the clothes you wear to your hairstyle. You can also show off your personality with your mobile devices and laptop.
I have a cellphone case that says “Zombie Outbreak Response Team” on it. Why? Because I think zombies are cool. I liked them long before everyone jumped on the zombie bandwagon (compliments of The Walking Dead).
Not only ago I had a chance to review a product from Skin It. Skin It makes “skins” and other products that go on your mobile devices, tablets and even laptops. Skin It products add color and personality to an otherwise boring looking device.
I have a laptop and a desk top. My laptop is just there. When I’m not using it all you see it a plain, black laptop. I thought it would be fun to try a Skin It product on it and add some of my personality to it.
Trying to narrow down which Skin It to get for my laptop was hard. There were so many fun designs to choose from. The great think about Skin It products is that they are removable, so you do not have to commit to just one design indefinitely. I’m currently very happy with my Skin It and I have no plans on replacing it any time soon.
I opted for a Peanuts Gang (Charlie Brown, Snoopy and friends) Skin It for my laptop. They have Skin Its for pretty much any size laptop. You just need to measure your device and select the best size option. There is no cutting necessary.
I love my Peanuts Skin It. It’s adorable! Whenever I’m not working on my laptop and I glance at, or walk past, my desk I can see the Peanuts Gang smiling back at me.
I love being able to add my personality to my laptop. When I am on the go and people see my laptop they will know that I am a fan a Peanuts fan. I think it also conveys that I’m a fun person too.
My husband was impressed by my Skin It. He was looking for a new cellphone case so I checked out the Skin It website and found a Dallas Cowboys cellphone case that he loved. I purchased it for him for his birthday.
He loves his new case and he enjoys being able to show off his favorite NFL team. Even though they haven’t played well in years he’s still a big fan and proud of it.
Skin it has skins for many different devices – even ones you would think you could put a skin on including Roku, gaming consoles and game controllers. Never in a million years would I think to personalize a game console and controller. That would make a fun gift idea.
Skin It also sells photo canvas prints, stickers and so much more.
Skin It has so many designs to choose from. So many that it would probably take you hours to go through them all unless you have an idea of what you would like and can do a search for it.
You can even use your own photos to truly personalize your skin. If you are looking for a Father’s Day gift, or graduation gift, why not give the lucky recipient a cellphone case with their children’s picture on it (or best friends if it was for a graduation gift). I’m sure the grandparents would also love to show off their grandkids with their cellphones instead of having to take out their wallet or carry around a small photo album.
If you would like to check out Skin It yourself visit www.SkinIt.com. You can also find the brand on social media. All their links are found on their website.
What do you think about Skin It? Is it a product you would use? If you could put a Skin It on your device, what kind of image would you want? Feel free to share your thoughts.

*I received a free Skin It for my laptop in order to do this review. I purchased the cellphone Skin It with my own money. There was no compensation. The opinions expressed are my own and not influenced in any way.
