Are you into energy drinks? Personally I’m not but I know a lot of people who cannot get through the day without guzzling down a can of some kind of an energy drink. I simply do not like the taste of them. I also don’t like the crashing feeling you get when the mega dose of caffeine they deliver wears off. I get headaches when that happens – really bad ones where I can barely function. It’s simply not worth it.
For me, I get energy from getting ample sleep at night and a “cat nap” during the day (when possible). I also enjoy caffeinated drinks like coffee and tea to perk me up a bit. Not mega doses either – just a cup here and there.
There is a powdered drink mix that I have tried that does give me energy and doesn’t give me that crashing feeling. It comes in a Lemon flavor and Lemonade Ice Tea flavor. The Lemon flavors seems to perk me up more so than the other flavor for some odd reason (same brand, same product – just a different flavor). I am glad that there are now healthy energy drink options to try whenever I feel on the go and need an instant boost to start my hectic day. I am also looking to try the all-natural and zero sugar energy drinks on https://xiteyourmind.com.
I recently had the opportunity to try out another energy drink, Älsa. This new all-natural premium energy drink mix that delivers a steady, measured flow of energy and clarity to support mindful everyday living.
One packet of Älsa includes:
- 250 mg of Cognizin® citicoline, clinically tested to provide sustained mental energy, enhanced focus and healthy memory function.
- 100 mg of caffeine (about the same as in a cup of coffee) from three sources: white tea extract, yerba mate extract and PURENERGY®. PURENERGY combines caffeine and pTeroPure® pterostilbene for efficient, sustained energy without an unpleasant jolt or sudden drop.
- 14 essential vitamins and minerals, including Vitamins C, B6, and B12, as well as the amino acids l-carnitine and taurine, and ginkgo biloba.
Älsa is sweetened with fructose and stevia. It doesn’t contain artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. It is vegan and gluten-free.
You can enjoy Älsa in different ways. The most popular way is mixing the powder in a 16 ounce glass of water. You can also sprinkle the product on yogurt, add it to a smoothie or use it in your favorite recipe. Personally I use it in water. I also use less water (around 8-10 ounces) instead of 16 ounces to give it more flavor. I find that using 16 ounces of water lessens the flavor. That is my personal preference. You might enjoy it with the 16 ounces.
Currently Älsa is available in the following flavors – Pomegranate Blueberry, Dragon Fruit and Three Citrus.
Älsa sent me the Pomegranate Blueberry flavor as well as a nice glass bottle to make it in.
I enjoyed the flavor, but as I mentioned earlier, I used less water. I felt that using the 16 ounces made the flavor taste very weak. For me, 8-10 ounces of water makes it taste better.
I can’t say that drinking the Älsa gave me energy, but it did help perk me up a bit during the mid-afternoon when I tend to be a bit sluggish. I didn’t have the physical energy to so thing like run up a flight of stairs (LOL) but I did have more “mental energy” than prior to trying the drink. This mental energy helped me stay on task with blog posts and other work I had to do. My head didn’t seem as “fuzzy” as it normally gets by the mid-afternoon. Perhaps I can attribute that to the Cognizin® citicoline?
I drink coffee and tea daily – sometimes multiple times per day. I think my body has built up a tolerance to it so normal doses of caffeine doesn’t effect me like it does others. I can drink a cup of coffee or tea right before bedtime and it doesn’t keep me up at night. If anything drinking tea and coffee soothes and relaxes me. After a very stressful day I grab for a cup of tea or coffee. It helps me to unwind.
With that being said, that might be why Älsa doesn’t help me when it comes to physical energy.
I did notice that this product did keep me up at night. I had some blog work to do which I knew would carry on to late at night so I drank a glass of Älsa and it ended up keeping me awake that night. I had a hard time “turning off.” My mind was racing and physically I didn’t feel tired.
If you use Älsa I would suggest not using it at night if you want to get to sleep at a decent time.
So far I am pleased with the product. I don’t want to rely on it often but it’s nice to know that I have a little “secret weapon” to help give me clarity and mental alertness when needed.

What do you think about Älsa? Does it sound like something you would want to try?
