I am not against washing dishes by hand. In fact most of our dishes are washed by hand. We only use the dishwasher if we have a lot of really dirty dishes that we rather not try and tackle or if we’re too busy to wash dishes by hand.
If my husband and kids had it their way we would use the dishwasher all day long. I try and limit it to once a day if needed to save on water.
I am fed up with dishwasher detergents, or should I say disappointed. Many that we have tried over the years simply fail to get our dishes completely clean.
One of my biggest pet peeves is having to wash dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Sometimes we have found that we need to rinse them off as best as possible in order for the dishwater detergent to get the dishes clean. That makes no sense. Why clean the dishes before you clean the dishes? Why not just wash them by hand?
Another pet peeve I have is dishes that come out of the dishwasher still dirty with visible signs of food residue on them. That means I have to wash the dishes after they have already been washed. It’s just crazy!
For a little over a week now I have been using Cascade Platinum Pacs in our dishwasher to clean our dishes. The difference between these and regular dishwater “pacs” is that these pacs not only clean your dishes, but they also clean the inside of the dishwasher. It’s a win-win situation.
Have you ever looked inside your dishwasher? Ewww! It’s not exactly clean, despite having dishes cleaned inside of it.
I’ve always wanted to clean inside our dishwasher but I never knew what product to use. That is why I really like the Cascade Platinum Pacs.
Here is how they work:
Cascade Platinum Pacs feature an advanced triple action recipe that is specially designed to leave dishware virtually spot-free and help prevent the build-up of hard-water film on dishwasher walls. You’ll need to use a dishwasher cleaner to remove existing build-up on wall interiors.
Cascade Platinum helps to remove touch, stuck on foods, even ones that have been left on for 24 hours. There is no need to pre-wash the dishes. It also leaves you dishes shiny and spot free, especially my nice white plates.
The pacs are so easy to use. There is no measuring or mess involved. Simply pop them in the dispenser and you are ready to go.
The pacs also help to keep new dishwashers looking good and helps to prevent additional hard water build up in your existing dishwasher. We have hard water in our condo complex (I hate it!). We’ll need to find a cleaner to remove the existing build up but after that if we continue to use the Cascade Platinum Pacs they should prevent future build up.
Cascade Platinum Pacs are available great scents like Lemon Burst and Fresh. They are available at mass merchandisers, grocery stores and retails stores nationwide. They range in price from $4.29 (14 pacs) up to $12.49 (43 pacs). These are suggested retail prices. Prices might vary by retailer.
The Cascade Platinum Pacs join a great family of products including;
- Cascade© Complete© Pacs
- Cascade © ActionPacs™ with Dawn® Grease Fighting Power
- Cascade© with the scent of Gain® ActionPacs™
- Cascade © ActionPacs™ Destinations: Mediterranean Lavender and Thai Dragon Fruit scents

As a blogger I sometimes need to take pictures of foods and recipes that I prepare. Nothing is more embarrassing to take a photo of your favorite recipe on a spotty, streaky plate. Not only does that ruin a picture, but it must not look very appetizing to my family and friends who eat off dishes that are spotty and streaky.
Cascade has teamed up with Top Chef judge and editor of Food + Wine, Gail Simmons, to discuss why presentation is important when serving your meals to family and friends. You want your dishes and eating utensils to look just as good as the meal. A great recipe can be ruined by spotty dishes and flatware.
Here Gail talks a bit more about presentation when it comes to serving your meals.
It seems like everyone is taking photos of the food that they eat and uploading them on Facebook and Instagram. You want to make sure that any meal you prepare that someone uploads looks as good as it possibly can – including the dishes.
I’m guilty of uploading food pictures too. I think we all are. 🙂
These are not the greatest photos (they were taken with my phone) but you can see why clean plates are a must.
Gail suggests…
“The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer desserts in crystal‐clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”

I love to try new products, I currently already use another Cascade product and then every month or two I have been buying a separate product to use to clean the dishwasher so it would be awesome it it just cleaned itself day by day.
