Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Limited Edition GODIVA Chocolates

If you follow the Lunar New Year you’ll know that this year marks the Year of the Horse. Some people refer to it as the Chinese New Year. It’s a different calendar than what we typically use. Each calendar year is represented by an animal.

I was born in the Year of the Sheep.

The Lunar New Year starts on January 31, 2014. This year it’s the Year of the Horse, which gives hope for a year filled with happiness, prosperity and good health. It is said that those born in the Year of the Horse will be the life of the party.

To celebrate the Year of the Horse, GODIVA has launched a beautiful Limited Edition Lunar New Year Gift Boxes, available in 20 and 32 pieces.

Lady Godiva, whom the chocolates are named after, is know for riding a horse. It’s only fitting that GODIVA puts out a special box of chocolates to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

These amazing Limited Edition boxed chocolates feature Limited Edition chocolates too – White Chocolate Pineapple Macadamia Truffle, Milk Chocolate Cherry Almond Truffle and Dark Chocolate Caramel Pear Truffle. Many of the chocolates feature Lady Godiva on her horse too.

Normally I am not too keen on white chocolate, but the White Chocolate Pineapple Macadamia Truffle is amazing! You get the creaminess of the white chocolate with the sweetness of pineapple (yes, it really does taste like pineapple!).

Dark Chocolate Caramel Pear Truffle (L) and Milk Chocolate Cherry Almond Truffle (R)

The Dark Chocolate Caramel Pear Truffle is divine! I could eat a whole box of just that flavor. 🙂

I love the way the box is assembled. The outside features a red, cardboard “sleeve” with Lady Godiva riding her horse. It is attached to the box of chocolates with a red ribbon. Once you remove the sleeve you’ll find the classic gold box of GODIVA chocolates.

My photos don’t do this set justice. It’s beautiful! The gold box could be repurposed too. It’s made exceptionally well.

In addition to these exquisite boxes of chocolates, customers will also receive a package of 8 lovely keepsake GODIVA lucky red envelopes with the purchase of one of the Limited Edition boxes.

I am not 100% familiar with the Red Envelopes given out during the Lunar New Year, but I do know that they are suppose to be lucky. They are actually gifts that are given out during the Lunar New Year or other social events (weddings, family gatherings…). The color red is to symbolizes good luck and is supposed to ward off evil spirits. The envelopes are normally filled with money too.

These would be fun to give to family and friends, or keep them for yourself.

The special Lunar New Year Limited Edition Year of the Horse GODIVA gift boxes are available exclusively at GODIVA boutiques around the country as well as the official website, www.GODIVA.com. The 20 piece retails for $50 and the 32 piece sells for $120.

What do you think about the beautiful Year of the Horse set? Do you have a favorite GODIVA chocolate flavor?

  1. Yum!!! I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate. I think the Year of the Horse Set is gorgeous, and my favorite Godiva chocolate flavor is anything dark chocolate. Than you for this review.
