Not my hair (I wish!). This is just a stock photo.I don’t have pictures of me in my teen years to show off my hair.

My hair used to by my crowning glory. I had really long, super thick, wavy hair when I was younger. My hair dresser referred to it as a lion’s mane.

Sadly, years of hair coloring, perms (back in the 80’s), hair products, hair dryers, stress, age and other things have taken it’s toll on my once beautiful hair. It’s not as thick and lush as it used to be. It’s still think and wavy, but no where close to the way it used to be.

I am careful about the products I use in my hair. I don’t use hair products that often (mousse, gel…) – maybe the occasional squirt of hair spray if I’m having a bad hair day. I also don’t use damaging products like flat irons and curlers. I do use a hair dryer.

Normally when I wash my hair I let it sit in a towel for a bit, then I let it air dry for a little longer. I can’t let it completely air dry because it gets really frizzy and looks dry. To combat that I usually scrunch my hair using a hair dryer. It helps to make my waves look a bit better and less frizzy.

CHI Touch 2

A while ago I was sent to review a new hair dryer called the CHI Touch 2. This an update version of the CHI Touch with new features. The CHI Touch 2 is lighter with a new sleek compact design and slip-resistant finish and can even be transformed into a hands free device.

This is not your ordinary hair dryer. This dryer is high tech and allows you to customize the perfect setting for you or the look you are going for.

For the first time, you can tailor your blowout according to the hair’s texture; something no other dryer provides. As a result, you will achieve optimal shine, increased volume and bounce plus eliminate frizz. Its NEW 2.24 inch touch screen control and unique speedometer design provides this customization with intelligent settings that control the temperature, ions, and speed. The built-in 3D ion generation system emits over 3x times more ionic output that you can adjust with just a touch of the finger. This allows you to increase the ionic output for thick coarse hair while normal to fine hair needs less ions. Of course, The CHI Touch 2 would not be complete without CHI ceramic technology to produce moist heat and a consistent temperature.

This is by far the most high tech dryer I have ever had the pleasure to use.

The CHI Touch 2 has a touch screen that allows you to play with the different settings to find what is best for your hair. You can control how fast the air blows, the temperature and the ions. You can even set it to blow cold air.

I wasn’t sure what settings worked best for me so each time I used it I would play around with the settings until I found the perfect temperature, speed and ion setting for my hair.

I’m not totally sure what ions are but I believe it has something to do with how quickly your hair dries. I also think it has something to do with removing static from your hair. My hair has had a lot of static in it lately. It has improved greatly since using the CHI Touch 2.

To adjust the hair dryer to suit your needs simply press on which setting you want to adjust (speed, temp, ions). Next, using your finger, move the “arm” on the dial to the desired location. The the left is less, to the right is more.

The hair dryer does come with attachments but I have yet to use them.

This dryer is lighter than my previous one. I also find it to be not as noisy as my previous one, even on a high speed setting.

For me, since using this dryer, my hair has less frizzies than normal. I don’t know if it’s because of the ions or something else. I also use it a lot less than my previous dryer, so it appears to be drying my hair a lot quicker. I also find that it cools off after use a lot quicker than other dryers too.

So far I can’t think of a negative thing to say about this dryer. The only thing that might be considered a “negative” for some is the price. The CHI Touch 2 retails for around $199.99. I think that is because this is a salon quality hair dryer – something you would find in high end salons. For me it’s not something I could budget for (sadly) but if I had the money I would certainly buy it. I am very pleased with my experience with this dryer. It’s by far the best hair dryer I have ever used.

The CHI Touch 2 can be purchased at fine salons and online retailers like ulta.com and loxabeauty.com.
