Coby Portable DVD Player

I find myself multi-tasking a lot of the time. I will be writing a blog post while listen to a soundtrack I need to review, or watching a DVD and writing notes or making an outline for a post I need to write.

I tend to watch DVDs on my computer. Not only is it too much of a hassle to set up the DVD player to watch a DVD on the TV, but it’s also inconvenient since I can’t see the TV screen from my computer.

Watching a DVD from my computer is OK, but it requires me to bounce back and forth from the movie to whatever else I’m working on.

I found the perfect solution!

Now I can watch a DVD and work on my computer at the same time, thanks to my Coby portable DVD player.

I’ve never heard of the brand Coby before. They have been around for many years. They specialize in TVs, DVD players, Tablets, Camcorders, Headphones and other affordable electronics.

Coby sent me one of their portable DVD players to review. What I love about the DVD player is that it can stand up right. It reminds me of a digital photo frame. It’s the same size as one and it takes up very little space.

The screen on the DVD player opens up and you insert the DVD inside. All the controls are found on the front and size of the player as well as on a very small (no bigger then a credit card – but thicker) remote control.

Now when I need to watch a DVD to review I can watch it right next to my computer. I actually find that I’m more productive this way because I don’t have to keep switching between the DVD and the browser I am working on

Coby Portable DVD players are surprisingly affordable. I remember when we purchased one for our car years ago. We paid about $300 for the one we had. Coby has ones for as low as $55.00. Most of their portable DVD players are under $100.00.

Granted sometimes you “get what you pay for”, but you know what, even if this is an affordable unti compared to other brands, it serves my purposes. I don’t require anything that is high definition. I don’t need a lot of “bells and whistles”. I just want to pop a DVD in and play it.

The DVD player plugs into any outlet. It’s light weight and you can take it just about anywhere.

The quality of the picture is not crystal clear (its not high def). It’s fine for me. Its fine for my kids too. Maybe a guy who is totally into high tech stuff might quibble, but for average folk it’s perfectly fine.

The sound is fine for me too. I’ve never had a need to blast the volume. The DVD player sites about a foot or so away from where I sit. I believe you could attach regular computer speakers to the player if you wanted it louder.

This DVD player is ideal for young children. It’s perfect to take to Grandma’s or a babysitter’s house. Being so affordable it would be ideal to get one for each of your children, that way they could watch whatever move they want and don’t have to fight over what to watch. My kids used to do that all the time. It drove us nuts. LOL!

I really like the Coby Portable DVD player. For the price you can’t beat this handy little player.

This would make an ideal holiday gift.

  1. I like the idea that this stands up for easy viewing.

  2. My daughter has to go visit her dad 5 hours away every month, this would be perfect to give her to take along and not be so bored on the drive
