Do you remember making coin rolls? My husband remembers doing that fondly. For me, it was not as fun. My mom made me put the coins in rolls. It was boring and time consuming. You had to sit there and count out the correct numbers of coins for each roll, then slip them into the paper sleeve, one by one, and making sure that the other end didn’t open up and they all came sliding back out (I’ve had that happen more than once).
Instead of rolling coins I used to make sure to use change every chance I got. I would pay for something worth $3.00 with three dollars worth of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. I would also give away coins for Halloween to the trick or treaters. I would do anything to avoid having to roll the coins.
Thank goodness for Coinstar! Coinstar makes rolling coins a thing of the past. No longer do you need to count out your change and put them in rolls one by one. With Coinstair you simply dump the entire contents of your piggy bank (or whatever you collect coins in) and let Coinstar do the sorting and counting. All you need to do is help the change along (sometimes a few coins don’t go down the shoot) and wait for Coinstar to finish tallying up your coins and giving you a recipet for the amount (less the Coinstar nominal fees). Make sure you check the return slot. Sometimes a coin or two gets spit out because it’s a foreign coin but every now and then a regular coin accidentally gets spit out. When that happens I just put it back into the machine. π
Coinstair is a great way to turn coins into dollar bills (paper cash) quickly and easily. They have so many convenient locations across the country too.
Recently Coinstar started to offer other rewards in exchange for the coins you deposited into the Coinstar machine. Instead of getting back a receipt that you could turn in for paper cash, you could turn your coins into other rewards such as gift cards and e-gift certificates. Coinstar has partnered up with many great stores and restaurant that you can earn gift cards and e-gift certificates to including Chilis, CVS, Old Navy, Starbucks, Toys R Us and more. Best of all the gift certificate and e-gift card options come with NO FEES.
Did you know that that big jar of change you have sitting on the shelf gathering dust can be turned into travel rewards too? Coinstar has partnered with Marriott to offer Coinstair users a way to earn Marriott eTravelCards. Marriott eTravelCards are also free of fees. Not all kiosks offer Marriott eTravelCards. To find a Coinstar location near you that does visit https://www.Coinstar.com/CoinMachine/Marriott. Just for the fun of it I put in a few different zip code of family and friends and every Coinstar that I found offered the Marriott eTravelCard reward, so chances are a location near you will too.
So what exactly is a Marriott eTravelCard? Marriott eTravelCards can be used at any of the over 3,700+ Marriott locations and properties worldwide. They can be used to pay for your hotel room or they can be used for fun things like a spa visit, dining, a round of golf and more.
Here is all you need to do to earn your Marriott eTravelCard from Coinstar.
–Β Find a Coinstar location near you (visit www.Coinstar.com).
– Once at the machine select the free coin counting feature.
– Select Marriott as your choice certificate (or whatever other merchant you want).
– Pour your coins into the machine and let Coinstar sort and count them for you. This normally only takes a minute or so depending on how many coins you have.
– When Coinstar is done counting your coins it will print out your Marriott certificate.
– Redeem at your nearest Marriott or other Marriott location.
It’s that easy!
If you travel a lot this could really save you money on hotel rooms and activities. They also carry no hidden fees and they don’t expire, so you can save them up for even bigger and better Marriott experiences.
Coinstar sent me some coins to turn into an e-certificate for Marriott, along with another Marriott eTravelCard. Unfortunately our local Marriott property really doesn’t have anything for us. They don’t have a restaurant on site like most Marriott properties do. Ours only offers breakfast and local restaurant delivery. π
For years I have wanted to have a romantic night in New York City with my husband. I would love to either go to dinner and see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City, or go see a Broadway show. With our Marriott eTravelCard I can cover some of the cost of the hotel room (NYC is not cheap) or use it at a hotel restaurant to cover the cost of dinner. So I’m going to save my Marriott eTravelCard and plan a romantic evening out with my husband. I just have to save up a bit more $$$ and make arrangements to have my father watch the kids for us.
For more information on how to turn your spare change into Marriott eTravelCards and other gift cards and e-certificates visit www.Coinstar.comΒ or www.Coinstar.com/FreeCoinCountingDetail/Marriott.
For Marriott locations please visit www.Marriott.com.

I love using Coinstar, we had one in our FoodLion gro & I was so bummed when that store closed. Then happily they added one to our Ingles gro store. I have done both choices of cash then from my receit or a voucher to a business etc. I love Marriott too and I would use the $100 Marriott eTravelCard if I won at The location they offer In gatlinburg TN which they called honeymoon in the smokies because of how romantic it is and the weddings everyone comes there for. I would use it there during the Christmas season so we could enjoy seeing the lights display, the night time in town parade and all the nice things like pool etc that that Marriott has to offer. Thanks for the chance

I would use it to get away for the ME time I’ve been praying for since my daughter’s accident in January. Every minute I’ve had since January 25th has been spent with her recovery and with caring for her boys. I’m still waiting for that time away when I can cry, scream, laugh, be angry, be happy, be sad, scream, scream … scream … I need that mountain top time where no one will bother to ask me why I’m screaming and crying and laughing … all at the same time.
Stressed much?? Yes .. yes I am π
Eileen says
Linda, what a great mom you are! You sound like a wonderful nurturer but we all know as moms that we do need ME time too in order to “give” and to stay sane.
My issue is not as pressing but with 3 of six kids in the house still, two in many activities as teens, a BABY in the house again and the cutest but BUSIEST little 1 year old grand daughter ever and our 20 year old daughter doing day care in our home, as well as watching another of our lil’ darling grandkids…the noise alone is CrAzy and chaotic. The things we do for our kids! I sure hope your daughter is doing well and Good luck to you on this contest! I am entering too, but hope you win!
