Here in New York (and I suspect other parts of the country) pollen and other allergens have been sky high. My green car is actually yellow from all the pollen. Our poor asthmatic cat has been wheezing pretty much every day. It’s horrible!
I work with little kids and many of them are coming in to our classroom with eyes that are swollen from allergies. Not only that they are coughing, sneezing and have runny noses. I feel bad for the little ones because you can tell they feel horrible.
Even though people are suffering from really bad allergies right now, it’s still possible that what you are experiencing is not allergies after all but rather a cold. Its still possible to catch a cold in the Spring and Summer. Colds never go away. They are just less prevalent in the warmer weather because people are not confined to staying indoors where cold germs bounce from person to person. When the weather gets nicer people spend more time outdoors and the cold germs have a harder time finding their next “victim.”
If you find that you are feeling blah and under the weather, don’t reach for the allergy medication just yet. Check to make sure you don’t have a cold.
Check out this infographic (below) to see if what you are experiencing is truly allergies or the dreaded common cold.
Are you dealing with a cold or allergies right now? If so, how do you find relief? Feel free to share your thoughts.
