If you read my blog often, you know that I truly enjoy doing reviews of beauty products. I think it’s an excellent way to not only learn about new products, but also new brands. If I wasn’t a blogger, I might miss out on a lot of wonderful companies.
Doing beauty reviews is one of my favorites because taking care of myself is very important to me. I want to look good and feel good. The last thing I want is to look and feel my true age.
I’m always on the look out for products that make my skin, both on my face and on my body, look good. I make it a point to take care of my skin daily.
Recently I was introduced to the brand Desert Essence. Desert Essence offers many natural skin care products including body scrubs and moisturizing oils. They are products that everyone can use, young and old, woman or man. Even teens.
Best of all, Desert Essence’s dental, skin and hair care lines are always made with cruelty-free, vegan, all-natural ingredients. That’s important to me. The more natural the ingredients, the better.
I was sent to review two products from the brand – a body scrub and a moisturizing oil.
The body scrub I received to review is their Detoxifying Sea Salt Body Scrub.
- Cleanse while you scrub with this creamy low foaming body polish
- Coarse exfoliating salts help detoxify
- Almond Meal and Walnut Shell help to reveal softer, more radiant skin
Smooth and cleanse skin with this intense exfoliating Sea Salt Body Scrub that transforms into a creamy, low foaming lather. Sea Salt helps detoxify and buff away dead skin cells while Almond Meal and Walnut Shell help reveal softer, more radiant skin. A delicious blend of Shea Butter, Sweet Almond, Jojoba Oils, and Honey provide deep moisture to help soften skin.
I love body scrubs. I use them every day. I guess that might not be the best thing to do, but I feel like they leave my skin feeling so much cleaner and more refreshed. This body scrub was no exception. I feel like it gently scrubbed and exfoliated dead, dry skin cells from my body, most especially on problem places like my elbows and the bottom of my feet (I exfoliate everywhere).
In the summer time you want your skin to look it’s best, so exfoliating is the ideal thing to do. With the winter months fast approaching (ugh!) it’s even more important to exfoliate your skin. Winter can be harsh on your skin, drying it out and making it look horrible. If you exfoliate on a regular basis you can ensure that your skin looks and feels good year round.
I can’t say much for the “detoxifying” part of the scrub. I do know that I like how my skin looked and felt after I used the scrub.
The only negative comment I would have to say is that I am not a fan of scrubs that use nut shells to exfoliate. I don’t like how the little pieces get all over the shower. I have to wash down the shower each time to remove the shell bits. That is why I prefer salt and sugar scrubs, because the salt and sugar completely dissolves in the shower so there is no messy clean up afterwards.
I was also sent to review their Jojoba & Sweet Almond Body Oil spray.
- Replenishing after shower finishing spray for dry skin
- Provides 24-hour moisture
- Lightweight texture absorbs quickly
A delicious blend of Jojoba and Sweet Almond Oils helps rejuvenate and restore moisture levels for soft, healthy-looking skin. Vitamin-enriched Shea Butter helps protect while nourishing antioxidant Vitamin E helps to soothe and comfort dry skin.
I’ve never used a product like this before, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
This is a spray bottle, but I found it best to spray the oil into my hand, and then apply it to my skin. When I sprayed the oil directly on to my skin, some of the oil sprayed on the bathroom floor, making it a bit slippery. I also found that by spraying it into my hand then applying to my skin helped me to control the amount of oil, and how much to apply. As with any oil, a little bit goes a long way. This bottle should last a long time.
I wouldn’t necessarily say this lasted 24 hours, but for the most part it did. There are some areas of my body where I felt extra moisturizer was required before bedtime (legs and elbows specifically). Using this oil is certainly a lot better than not using anything at all. Your body needs moisturizer, especially as you get older.
The product has a very faint scent to it. I thought it would be more fragrant, but honestly, that is fine with me. I wanted to use it to take care of my skin, not as a scented body spray. You can easily use your regular body spray and perfume without this product interfering with their scent.

What do you think about Desert Essence? Do you think you would like to try any of their products?
