I have been a long time fan of Disney’s films. I still remember Sunday evenings when the Wonderful World of Disney would air on television. My dad (paternal grandfather who raised me) was not a fan of the show. He would rather watch baseball or another sport (we only had one television back then). Lucky for me my mom (paternal grandmother who raised me) was also a fan of Disney, so we won out each time.

I was fortunate enough to see many of the classic Disney films in the big theater, decades after they were initially released.

A local movie theater used to show classic Disney movies all summer long. Each week there was a new film. My mom and I had a standing date for the movies once a week, each week, all summer long just to see the Disney films. Oh how I miss those days.

Let’s face is – Disney had A LOT of films that can be seen as “classic” – Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Dumbo, Peter Pan… the list goes on. Added that to the list is the animated film Bambi.

Bambi has always been one of my most favorite Disney animated films. It’s heart breaking at times, but over all it is an enjoyable movie with delightful characters that you can’t help but fall in love with – Flower, Thumper and of course Bambi.

Disney has re-released this classic film as part of their signature collection to be enjoyed again and again by a whole new generation.

Bambi was released in 1942 during World War II and took over five years to make due to its exquisite hand-drawn artwork and attention to detail. Beloved by generations, Bambi holds the No. 3 spot on the American Film Institute’s “10 Top 10,” honoring the 10 greatest animated films of all time. The timeless tale features an adorable young deer named Bambi who explores the wonders and challenges of the woods with his playful pal Thumper, the lovable skunk Flower, and wise Friend Owl – and ultimately fulfills his destiny as prince of the forest.

The film celebrates is 75th Anniversary this year. Seventy five years – WOW!

This beautiful film is the story of a young deer named Bambi. He lives in the forest with his mother. The forest is not a safe place for deer, but Bambi’s mom does what she can to protect her young son.

As Bambi grows up he makes friends with some of the woodland creature who live with him in the woods including Thumper the rabbit and Flower, the sweet little skunk.

One day tragedy strikes and Bambi’s world is turned upside down.

Will Bambi be able to survive on his own? What will become of him? To find out you need to pick up or download a copy of the film. Look for it where ever movies are sold.

Bambi is one of the saddest Disney films. It ranks right up there with Dumbo as a really sad Disney film. But don’t worry, it has a happy ending.

For a film that was created over 75 years ago, the animation still impresses me today as it did when I was a young girl. Disney was certainly ahead of it’s time when it came to animated films.

Because this film has been “tweaked” to make it suitable for modern age and technology, I find that the current version is very sharp and colorful.

This film been released in the past. With the updated version there are new bonus features as well as classic bonus features. They are all worth checking out.
