Are you a Netflix member? My family has been subscribers for many years. We used to use the one DVD service but switched to streaming when we got a Roku which allowed us to stream to our TV. We have a second Roku that my kids use.
My kids use the Roku more than my husband and I do. My teen daughter loves to watch her favorite series on Netflix. She’s totally into One Tree Hill now. She was very young when the series was on TV and we wouldn’t let her watch it (we didn’t feel it was “age appropriate”). Now that she’s a teen she can watch it.
I like how Netflix is getting into their own original programming too. Some of their series include House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Arrested Development (this series was on TV, not it’s on Netflix).
Netflix is now creating original series for children too. In fact, a new series is debuting on December 24, 2013 called Turbo FAST. It’s from DreamWorks and it’s based on the popular DreamWorks film Turbo.
I don’t normally post press releases on my site but I am going to in this case so that I don’t miss out sharing important information with readers.
Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team are challenging the world to “snail up!” as they make their global television debut on Christmas Eve – Tuesday, December 24th at 12:01 AM PST – with the launch of DreamWorks Animation’s all new Turbo FAST series, exclusively in all Netflix territories. Families will be able to stream the first five episodes this holiday season, with additional all new episodes premiering throughout the year.
The first-ever Netflix original series for kids, DreamWorks’ Turbo FAST is a high-octane ensemble comedy that amps everything up to the extreme as Turbo and his adrenaline-fueled crew go on daring new adventures, race on the coolest tracks, and take on the craziest challengers. No matter how wild things get, these snails always have each other’s backs.
Stunt Team members — Turbo, Whiplash, Burn, Smoove Move, White Shadow, Skidmark and Chet — already have legions of fans from their appearance in the DreamWorks Animation’s feature film Turbo, which opened in theaters around the globe earlier this year and has already grossed more than $280 million. The all new television show digs deeper into the crazy personalities of the snail crew and features 2D design to create a stylized look reflective of the Stunt Team’s fast-paced, souped-up world. Reid Scott from Veep lends his voice to show’s title character, and comedian Ken Jeong reprises his role from the feature film as the fan-favorite manicurist turned home shopping icon Kim Ly.
“We’ve long said that Netflix is revolutionizing the television industry and now we are thrilled to officially be a part of it,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation. “They have bee fantastic partners nwhose vision has given our characters an amazing platform to be enjoyed by families around the world.”
“We are excited to be working with the gifted storytellers at DreamWorks Animation to deliver Turbo FAST, our first original kids series, to families around the world this holiday season,” said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix. “With new episodes on their way in the coming months, kids will have something to look forward to all year.”
Turbo FAST was produced by DreamWorks Animation Television with production services provided by Titmouse Inc., based on characters created by David Soren from the DreamWorks Animation motion picture “Turbo.” Turbo FAST is Produced by Ben Kalina and Jennifer Ray and Executive Produced by Chris Prynoski.
I’m going to check it out. I know my husband’s cousin’s little boy is totally into Turbo. I am not sure if she has Netflix but knowing how much he loves the movie she might just subscribe so he can see the series.
More original programming will also appear on Netflix in the upcoming year.
If you would like more information about #TurboFAST follow @Netflix and @DWAnimation on Twitter and visit TeamTurboFast.com and Netflix.com/Turbo.
Do you subscribe to Netflix? Do you have a favorite original series?

My sister and her husband got rid of their DVR box and replaced it with Netflix. They pay less and are able to watch more of the programs they like. They also cut back on their cable bill. They no longer subscribe to HBO or SHowtime beciase there are so many programs and series they can watch on netflix.

I’m way behind on my view of Netflix. I have friends who always used to get movies in the mail from Netflix. I didn’t know about all the new things they’re doing.

My nieces will just love this when they hear. I am not a Netflix subscriber, but they are.
