When you think of the term “educational toy,” what comes to mind? Do you think it’s a toy that promotes learning but it boring to children, or do you truly believe that educational toys can be FUN? I’m a firm believer that educational toys can be fun.
As a parent I took great care in picking out the right toys for my children (who are not young adults… sigh…). I wanted toys that were not only fun but also promoted imagination and creativity. A toy got “bonus points” if it also taught my kids.
The best kind of educational toys are ones that teach children something valuable without a child knowing that they are actually learning something. All a child really cares about is that a toy is fun to play with. After all, if you asked a child if they wanted to play with something educational or with a toy they will almost always choose a toy.

This fun and engaging puzzle globe helps children as young as three practice and learn geography. With removable continents and names, and famous landmarks laid out on the globe, this interactive toy promises hours of fun!
We have the Puzzle Globe at work. I was sent the Puzzle Globe to review. Since my kids are young adults, I donated it to the classroom where I work.
The Puzzle Globe was a huge hit with the kids I work with. I think it’s a fun way to teach children about countries and continents. After a few days most of the kids that played with it regularly were able to name the continents and point out where the United States was located. They could also point out the major oceans.
Some of the pieces were a little challenging at first for the kids to figure out where they went (the kids in our classroom are 5-6 years old). After they did it a few times they got the hang of it and knew right away where the pieces went.
It is possible to put them in the wrong spots, but it’s not that easy so it does happen that often.
The Puzzle Globe is not only fun for children to put together (and take apart – they enjoy that too), but it can also be used as a regular globe to point out places on Earth. It’s both a learning tool and a fun toy rolled into one.
