The temperature and humidity levels are rising… the kids are whining that they are bored and have nothing to do… the laundry is piling up… last night’s dinner dishes are still sitting in the sink needing to be washed… the dust bunnies under the couch are calling you by name… It’s things like this that make us all wish we had even just a few moments to ourselves to “escape” from all the day-to-day stresses in our lives. As a busy parent jetting off to some kind of exotic tropical island is not our reality. Unless you are super rich and have maids and nannies. 🙂 For the rest of us our only escape of the day might be those few stolen moments you can find peace and quiet in the bathroom.
I’m a mom… I know that even trying to find quiet time in the bathroom is not possible. I remember those years where my kids would follow me in the bathroom. My pets do it too. My kids are teens now but I occasionally step out of the shower to find a cat or the dog lying on the bathmat.
Imagine if we could turn our bathroom into a tropical escape. I’m sure you could toss in a few exotic plants, a water fountain and some fragrant flowers. If you have a tiny bathroom like we do, a few small additions might be all you need.
NIVEA challenged me to turn my bathroom into a tranquil escape. Sound proof walls and a dead bolt on the door would have been nice (LOL) but certainly not possible.
NIVEA sent me a gift card to 1-800-Flowers, some super comfy Havaianas flip flops (which my teenage daughter laid claim to – sigh…) and a bottle of their newest fragrance body wash – Frangipani.
Frangipani? That sounds like an Italian dinner. What in the world is Frangipani?
Frangipani is a small flowering tree found in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. It often goes by the name Plumeria. Plumeria is often associated with tropical islands like Tahiti and Hawaii.
Frangipani has a soft, fruity, jasmine and gardenia like scent. The first thing that comes to my mind when I smell it is Hawaii. I can envision myself standing underneath a waterfall, letting the cool water drench my body and let my mind drift away.
NIVEA has a new body wash available now in the Frangipani scent. It’s even done in a beautiful tropical blue color. The body wash also contains yellow-orange colored “pearls” that are made with sunflower oil, giving your body much needed moisturizer.
NIVEA Frangipani body is made with NIVEA’s breakthrough Hydra IQ Technology to provide your skin with intense long-lasting moisturization throughout the day – even beyond the shower. The body wash rinses clean (no residue or sticky film) and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. Let’s not forget the amazing scent too.
NIVEA Touch of Frangipani Hydrating Shower Gel was also featured in the July issue of Allure Magazine as an Editor’s Favorite (find it in the “Beauty Reporter” section).
I was challenged to turn my bathroom into an “escape” from my every day stresses. Challenge accepted!
I even created a pin board in Pinterest of images that come to mind when I think of “Escape”. You can see my Pinterest mood board here – http://pinterest.com/shescribes/mood-board-what-escape-means-to-me. You can also look (and follow) me on Pinterest (SheScribes).
From 1-800-Flowers I picked up a beautiful wind chime. I love the sound of wind chimes and I find them very peaceful and relaxing. The only problem is my dear hubby has not got around to putting up the hook I need to hang them up. Grrr!
This is what they look like (except mine is still in the box).
So pretty!
I also picked up some tropical looking (although fake) flowers to add to my bathroom and a water fountain. Some might question why I would get a water fountain since the shower would be loud and I wouldn’t hear it. I picked one up because I sometimes take long bubble baths (which I can easily hear it) or in the morning when I’m getting ready for my day I can turn it on and listen to the relaxing trickle of the water while I am getting dressed and putting my “face” on.
I’ve been using the product for a couple of weeks now. My daughter too (she can’t resist the scent – it really is amazing). It’s very rich and creamy. You can feel that right away as soon as you put it on your body.
The “pearls” burst as you are washing your body with the body wash, releasing the sunflower oil within.
I can tell that the wash is moistening my skin because my elbows tend to be dry and they are currently not dry at all. I know that might not seem very significant, but it is to me. When my elbows are dry they start to peel and that can look rather gross. It looks like I have sunburn and the skin is peeling – that is how bad it can look sometimes. Right now my elbows look decent. It’s take a photo but it’s kind of hard to take a picture of your elbow. LOL!
Sometimes soaps and body washes can leave behind a dull “film” that can dry your skin out or leave little white flaky patches. That is not the case with this body wash. It washes fabulously and rinses off perfectly.
I love how the scent fills the air too. I wish the scent would stay on the skin a bit longer. It seems like it disappears after you towel yourself off. At least it does fill the air those moments when you are washing your body, making your shower smell like you are bathing under a waterfall in some secluded spot on a tropical island.
I may not be physically able to “escape”, but at least those stolen moments when I am able to take a long, hot bath or shower I can escape in my mind. Sometimes those few moments are all it takes to energize and recharge ourselves.
