Extra power for your smartphone & other devices with IOGEAR portable mobile power station

IOGEAR GearPower 2K

I’m pretty sure this is a scenario that many people can relate to. You are not at home and you are in need of your cellphone, only to find that you are low on power and you have no place to recharge it. I think this happens to many of us. Even if you are normally on top of things and make sure to keep your smartphone charged at all times, sometimes “life” happens and you find that you are without power.

If you are like my teenagers and find that the battery on your phone is low it’s going to feel like the “end of the world”. You have to see my kids, especially my daughter, when their battery gets down below 10%. They freak out! They look for any way possible to charge their phones. Its as if the power dies on their phones theirs lives with cease too. Kids these days are just way too dependant on their cellphones. A lot of adults are like that too, sad to say.

Personally I like to know that I can charge my phone in case of emergencies. I keep a power plug in my car for my iPhone. There is one in my husband’s car too, just in case.

IOGEAR Charger

A few years ago I came home from a press trip to Los Angeles. I foolishly didn’t take a power cord with me. When I landed my phone was dead and I had no way of notifying car service that I had landed and where I was. I had to call my husband from a payphone (thankfully I had enough change to speak with him for a few minutes). He had to call the car service for me to let the know where I was.

Last year I was coming back from a press trip in Tampa and my cellphone battery was getting low. I tried to find a place to plug it in to charge it but all the outlets were being used by other people. Thankfully I had just enough juice left to call car service when I landed back in New Jersey.

For me, having another source to power up my cellphone when it needs charging is a must have. It’s not always easy to find an outlet (especially when traveling). That is why I like products like the IOGEAR portable mobile power station.

I was sent one free to review. I am grateful for the opportunity because I can see how valuable having a product like this can be.

I was sent the GearPower 2K Mobile Power Station to review. It’s lightweight and about the size of an iPhone. You can easily tuck this inside your purse, backpack, briefcase or glove compartment.

IOGEAR Portable Charger

The GearPower 2K by IOGEAR has one USB 1A charging output. You can use it to fast charge almost any smartphone or MP3 player to full capacity, with spare power left on the GearPower. It’s also compatible with handheld playing systems, which is a bonus if you have game addicted children. My son has an special case on his iPhone that acts as a spare battery for his phone. The GearPower device also charged this device.

The unit it’s self is easy to recharge so you always have that spare charge when you need it. It even arrived to me fully charged.

With the IOGEAR GearPower 2K mobile charging device you never have to worry about running out of battery life again. This is a must have for people who travel so that they are never without their phone or MP3/iPod. I plan on packing this every time I travel, much to the dismay of my kids. My kids have been fighting over this. They both want it so that they can always keep their life line – I mean iPhone – charged at all times.

The IOGEAR GearPower 2K would make a great gift, especially for travelers, college students, teens and busy moms who might a power boost while running their busy kids all over town.

The GearPower 2K is only $29.99. You can buy it from the IOGEAR website (www.IOGEAR.com) or from other retail locations. You can also check out the brand on Facebook and Twitter.

IOGEAR carries other types of chargers and accessories too.

  1. This would be perfect for my son. There are days he is on campus all day and could use a extra charge for his cell phone or iPod.m I also like that it looks like it would hold up to a teenager. 🙂

  2. I would love to own one of these IOGear portable power packs. They’re perfect for traveling and camping. Perfect for the (older) kids too, who can never remember to keppa full charge when traveling.
