What would the holiday season be without holiday entertainment? Personally, it wouldn’t be Christmas without watching my family’s holiday favorites – A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, Christmas Vacation, It’s a Wonderful Like, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and many more. My family watches all these holiday classics many times during the holiday season. If we don’t catch them on television we just need to pop the Blu-ray of DVD into our player (we have them all on Blu-ray or DVD).
Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE these movies. I love, love, love them. But sometimes I look for something new, something I haven’t seen before. Perhaps even something to add to my family’s holiday watching lineup.
The movies I mentioned earlier in my post are not always good for little kids. Some are just too boring for them, like It’s a Wonderful Life. When I was little I didn’t like that movie. As an adult I love it.
Did you know that Amazon Prime Video has original holiday specials that even the youngest family member could enjoy. I just learned about it myself.
Amazon Prime Video Kids is offering Prime Original holiday specials, exclusively on Prime Video.
I love Amazon. I shop on Amazon almost weekly. In fact, we did about 75% of our holiday shopping on Amazon.
Prime member can enjoy a plethora of entertainment, including the charming holiday specials.
I had the opportunity to watch a few of the shows and let me tell you, they are wonderful! They are certainly worth checking out, even if you don’t have little ones at home.
I was also sent a few other goodies including a Merry Christmas Mouse book and a super cute Click, Clack, Ho! Ho! Ho! holiday book.
I donated the Merry Christmas Mouse book to my kindergarten class. The Click, Clack, Ho! Ho! Ho! book I am keeping with my family’s holiday book collection. The only reason why I donated the Merry Christmas Mouse book is because it’s more of a counting book then a reading book. It’s still adorable none the less.
One holiday movie on Amazon Prime Video Kids is Click Clack Moo: Christmas at the Farm. The movie was inspired by the acclaimed children’s book series “Click, Clack, Moo” from New York Times bestselling duo Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. It’s the same characters in the book I also received.
It’s Christmas time on the farm and everything is excited, especially the farmer. The animals know that the farmer treats them very well and they want to return the favor by gifting him a fancy new clothes dryer. The only problem is they are animals and animals don’t have money. Talk about a dilemma. But that is OK because the animals are determined to give Farmer the best Christmas ever.
Another delightful holiday movie is based on the popular children’s book series, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. It’s called If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie.
It’s Christmas time and Mouse is super excited. So is his best friend Oliver. Oliver even has a very special surprise for Mouse. Sadly, Mouse is a bit too anxious to find out the surprise, and accidentally almost totally destroys it. Mouse needs to rely on the help of his friends Moose, Dog and Pig (the same characters from the book series) to help fix things before Oliver finds out.
This one is SO CUTE that my family and I watched it twice already. In fact, writing about it I want to watch it again.
I also received a holiday cookie mix and a super adorable Mouse cookie cutter and a very pretty snowflake cookie cutter. My kids and I plan on baking cookies on Christmas Eve for “Santa” to enjoy (the reality is that WE enjoy them as soon as they are ready to eat out of the oven – LOL).
How cute is the mouse cookie cutter? I cannot wait to make the cookies on Christmas Eve with my family. The mix looks yummy (I love the vanilla chips).
Are you familiar with the classic children’s book Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats? It’s a very popular book with elementary age children. In fact, we gave all the kids in our program a copy of the book for Christmas this year.
Amazon Prime Video has a Snowy Day movie based on the book. I was pleasantly surprised to it. We loved it too. It’s just like the book, except the movie is 38 minutes long (the book isn’t that long). It’s fun to see a beloved book come to life.
Amazon Prime Video Kids has several other holiday mini-movies that children (and adults!) can enjoy this holiday season including The Stinky & Dirty Show, Tumble Leaf, Creative Galaxy, BookaBoo’s Barkin’ New Year, and Wishenproof.
Another fun holiday special that is available is Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year, based on the award-winning “Pete the Cat” book series by Kimberly and James Dean. It will be available for viewing on December 26, 2017.
I was fortunate to view a screener. I also received a Pete the Cat soft throw blanket we can snuggle under while enjoying these adorable holiday short movies.
The kids I work with LOVE Pete the Cat. We have read them several of the Pete the Cat books. We even do projects based on the character. I was excited to see this holiday special.
It’s New Year’s Eve and Pete’s family is hosting a New Year’s Eve party. Pete can invite all his friends. As Pete is handing out invitations, his friends tell him about their New Year’s resolutions and ask Pete what his resolution is. Pete has no clue. At first he wasn’t even sure what a resolution was until his friends explain it to him.
Will Pete come up with a resolution before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve? To find out you need to check out Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year. It’s super cute, and Pete even talks (I didn’t even know Pete had a mouth – LOL!).
These holiday specials are available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video for members. They can be streamed fro the Amazon Video app as well as compatible smart TV’s, Fire TV, Apple TV, Fire tablets, Android and iOS phones, as well as online at Amazon.com/PrimeVideoKids.
