Help support Breast Cancer Awareness & Research with Harley-Davidson’s Pink Label Collection (giveaway ends 10/31/14)

HD jacket

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I think it’s wonderful that so many companies, brands and organizations make a point of helping Breast Cancer awareness and research this month by offering pink or pink ribbon products and other ways of raising funds.

Did you know that Breast Cancer affects men as well as women? My grandfather had Breast Cancer back in the 80’s and have to have is left breast removed. Breast Cancer might not be as common in men as it is women but please be aware that it can and does happen to men too.

Here are some sobering facts about Breast Cancer from BreastCancer.org.

  • About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • In 2014, an estimated 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,570 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
  • About 2,360 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in men in 2014. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.
  • About 40,000 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2014 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1989 — with larger decreases in women under 50. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness.
  • A woman’s risk of breast cancer approximately doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. About 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it.
  • About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic mutations that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.
  • The most significant risk factors for breast cancer are gender (being a woman) and age (growing older).

Pink Ribbon

I truly wish there was a cure for this horrible disease. I am grateful that there have been plenty of medical advances to help women with Breast Cancer but there is still so much research that needs to be done.

Harley-Davidson is one of the many brands to help find a way to raise funds for Breast Cancer research and awareness. They have a special collection called the Pink Label Collection of MotorClothes and apparel.

Since 2010 Harley-Davidson customers have helped to raise over a million dollars. The funds goes towards organizations that help support and empower women affect by Breast Cancer. Their motto is “You’re not alone, because we ride with you.

When you purchase apparel and accessories from the Pink Label Collection of MotorClothes you are helping to support women affected by Breast Cancer through the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the After Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Young Survival Coalition.

You can check out the available Pink Label products at H-D.com/PinkLabel. Some of the available products include a pink Harley-Davidson leather jacket (pictured above), boots, gloves, helmets and hoodies to name a few. They even have lovely jewelry available to help support Breast Cancer too.

Harley-Davidson has a lovely Pink Label Beaded Necklace that is part of the  Pink Label Collection of MotorClothes collection.

Necklace

Description

This necklace would make a great gift for the Harley-Davidson fan in your life. It features the Harley-Davidson logo as well as beads engraved with an “H” and “D” for Harley-Davidson.

It has a “lobster claw” clasp which makes it easy to get on/off. I like that it’s adjustable too so you can add a bit of length to it if you need it.

The necklace retails for $60 on the Harley-Davidson site.

I have this necklace. It was sent to me to review. I’m going to be giving it to my co-worker. She’s a young girl who loves to ride motorcycles. She even goes to a track upstate (NY) on the weekends to ride motorcycles on a special race track. She’s also dealing with cancerous cysts in her ovaries. I realize it’s not Breast Cancer, but it’s cancer none the less and she does love motorcycles. I think she’ll really love this necklace.

If you would like to learn more about Harley-Davidson’s efforts to support those affected by breast cancer, visit Harley-davidson.com.

Harley-Davidson would like to give a lucky winner the same necklace I receive to review. Thank you H-D!
