HomeTeam: Handy new app for players, parents and coaches

My kids no longer play a sport (I WISH they did!). I try and encourage them all the time to start playing sports again, but they have no interest. I feel that they really need to participate in sports, not only for the physical activity but also for the socialization with their team mates as well as learning to work as a team and of course the boost to their self esteem when they score a goal or hit a home run.

Many of my friends have kids who are actively involved in sports. Our one friend, “T” (I don’t want to give our her real name) has two daughters who are totally into sports. They are never home! It seems like they are always on the go-go-go between their daughter’s games and practices. I don’t know how she does it. I get confused enough with just one child playing a sport.

I remember when both of my kids played soccer. One would practice here and the other would practice there. This one’s practice was moved to another date and time, and the other ones practice was cancelled. And forget about juggling games, especially if they were both on the same day but at different times and locations.

I know many people face the same dilemma with children who play sports, even worse if you have multiple children playing multiple sports.

What if I told you there was an app that you can use on your iOS device that is like your own personal assistant when it comes to managing your children’s sports? It’s called HomeTeam and it’s a “must have” for anyone who has a child involved in sports. It’s also perfect for coaches and players too!

Check out some more information about the app.

HomeTeam is the ideal app for sports team parents, players, and coaches. Track all your kids’ teams, or all the teams you coach, manage, or play on. Communicate with players and parents. Add and update team, roster, and game information right on your iOS device; no Web site membership required. Works with any team sport.

Sports Team Parents:

  •  View an all-in-one schedule of upcoming games for all of your kids’ teams.
  •  Automatically add games to your device calendar or work calendar.
  •  View contact info for other team parents to arrange carpooling and get-togethers.
  •  Receive up-to-date game information from coaches and managers.
  •  Get directions to the game.
  •  Automatically address e-mails and text messages to other team parents.

Coaches and Managers:

  • Maintain rosters for all your teams, including player and parent contact information.
  • Maintain your team calendar on the Web with just a few easy taps on your device. Add game info to your device calendar.
  • Send e-mails and text messages to players and parents.
  • Automatically compose and address to the whole team an e-mail with detailed game information.

  • Maintain rosters for all your teams, with photos and contact information.
  • Send an e-mail or text message to one or all players.
  • Automatically add games to your device calendar.
  • Receive up-to-date game information from coaches and managers.

This app does it all. I’m very impressed by all it can do to help you keep on top of practices and games as well as keep in touch with team members.

Some of the features that stick out to me include maps to the games and the ability to have the practices and games automatically go to your calendar. I used to write everything on my calendar at home. That certainly does help when you are on the go. I love knowing that all the information I need is right there in my cell phone and easily accessible any time I need it.

As a coach I’m sure this application is also a “must have”. With multiple team players to keep in touch with, as well as their parents, this app would make it a lot easier for you. You would no long have to call and/or e-mail many people at one time. You could simply compose one e-mail with all the game details and send it out to everyone at once.

I used to be a classroom mom when my kids were in elementary school. Too bad they didn’t have a similar app like this to keep other parents “in the loop” with classroom events. Humm… maybe I should develop and app (just kidding).

Even if you have no children and actively engage in sports, this app can help keep you in touch with the rest of your team as well as with your coach/coaches.

The application is currently available at a special price of $1.99 through December.

For more information about the app visit the home page http://hometeamapp.us. There is also a Facebook fan page you can check out, www.Facebook.com/HomeTeamApp.

You can purchase the app on iTunes,  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hometeam/id552773494?mt=8 or do a search on your phones app store for HomeTeam.

What do you think about this app? Do you have a favorite feature? I always love to hear from readers. Feel free to leave a comment.
