Inkoos Review & Giveaway

Many years ago, when my daughter was a young girl, she was obsessed with a toy called Doodle Bears. Doodle Bears were plush bears that you could write on with a washable marker. It was the #1 thing she wanted for Christmas one year. She was thrilled when “Santa” brought her one. She played with it for a long time. I honestly don’t know what ever happened to it.

The idea of writing on plush has been around since I was a young girl, except back then the kind of plush you wrote on was one of those autograph stuffed animals and the pen you used was permanent ink (do they still sell those?).

Offering a child a blank canvas and materials to doodle or draw with opens their minds and encourages creativity. As a young girl I would doodle on anything I could find… the back of an envelope, a napkin, a paper doiley. As long as I had a pencil or crayon and something to draw on I was happy. I’m the “Queen of Doodles”. Ha Ha.

A while ago I was offered the opportunity to review a new toy called Inkoo. Inkoo is a plush critter that you can draw or write on with washable markers. Since I haven’t seen anything like this in many years I welcomed the opportunity.

Inkoo comes in a variety of creatures including a bear, dog, cat and owl. They are available in different colors, making them ideal for either boys or girls. Each Inkoo comes with not one but THREE different color washable markers that can be used to decorate the Inkoo. Similar products only offered one washable marker. I like that Inkoo offers three because it allows children to color in their designs and creations too. Plus having a lot of colors to work with is fun too. Best of all the markers easily clip on to the Inkoo plush so that you always have them handy whenever you feel inspired.

We have two Inkoos – a large purple bear and a mini white bear. Currently the larger bear is in the clothes hamper. When my kids went up to visit their grandparents yesterday they had the larger one in the car to play Tic-Tac-Toe on. The only problem is that it’s not like a dry erase or chalk board where you can erase it and start over. With Inkoos the only way to clear the canvas is to wash them with your laundry.

Our mini white bear is currently decorated and features a Happy Holidays message.

Here is an image of the mini white Inkoo before being decorated and a picture of the one we have in it’s current state.

Here is a better photo of the clip where the marker goes. I’m not 100% sure but I think my daughter was trying to design hair on the back of the little Inkoo, but never finished.

As you can see there is plenty of room on the back of the Inkoo for doodling and writing. The same applies to the larger Inkoo too.

Inkoos are PERFECT for long car trips. Children can doodle or play games (like Tic-Tac-Toe) on the Inkoo while in the car. When you get home all you need to do is toss it in the wash and it will be ready to go for the next road trip. They also double as snugly friends and pillows children can rest their heads on. The small Inkoo should be OK for a toddler. The larger Inkoo would make a more comfy pillow.

Each Inkoo comes with a washable marker (one for the mini size, three for the larger size) and a “Wheel of Inkspiration” to give you ideas on what you can design on your Inkoo.

As an adult I have caught myself playing with the Inkoo too. I find doodling and coloring to be a great way to relieve stress (and as you know I’ve had a lot of stress this past week).

Inkoos are geared more towards younger children, I’m guessing 12 and under. My 14 year old probably uses it more then my 12 year old does. She loves designing different looks and using as many different colors as possible. She’s been using the Inkoo MORE then the similar toy she wanted when she was younger.

Inkoos are available at Wal-mart, Amazon, Target and Toys R Us. They retail for $19.99 (large) and $7.99 (mini). You can also learn more about them at www.Inkoos.com. There you will find an online version of the Wheel of Inkspiration” as well as cute coloring pages you can download and enjoy. They are manufactured by The Bridge Direct.

I think Inkoos would make a fun holiday gift this season. They are perfect for trips to Grandma’s or a babysitters house. Plus they are a fun way to inspire your child or grandchild’s creativity.

Inkoos has generously offered to give a lucky reader a large and mini size Inkoo. Thank you Inkoo!

To enter please comment and let me know who the Inkoos would be for and which Inkoo they would like best (dog, cat, owl or bear).
