Angelina Jolie has to be one of Hollywood’s versatile actors. Her diverse roles include a drug addict, mentally ill woman, spy and an adventurer. Now Angelina has added some more things to her resume – Director and Writer.
Angelina Jolie has written a film that is also her directorial debut called In The Land of Blood and Honey.
Set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War that tore the Balkan region apart in the 1990s, In the Land of Blood and Honey tells the story of Danijel and Ajla, two people from different sides of a brutal ethnic conflict. Danijel, a soldier fighting for the Serbs, and Ajla, a Bosnian held captive in the camp he oversees, knew each other before the war, and could have found love with each other. But as the armed conflict takes hold of their lives, their relationship grows darker, their motives and connection to one another ambiguous, their allegiances uncertain.
Think of this movie as a some what moderny day Romeo & Juliet.
I have not seen the movie yet, but I’ve seen the trailer. This is a very “deep”, dark film. And although the characters are fictitious, the Bosnian-Serbian war was real. This is a far cry from Angelina’s other films Kung Fu Panda and Shark Tale.
Here is the movie’s trailer.
For her first attempt at writing and directing it looks like she did a fantastic job. It’s already been nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
How you would like to ask Angelina a question about her new film? Or do you have another question you would love to ask Angelina Jolie if you had a chance? Well now you can!
On January 12, 2012, Angelina Jolie will be doing a live Q&A session, which you can view on my site (I’ll post the details on my site in the next few days).
One lucky reader who posts a question in the comment section of this post will also win a Limited Edition promotional Blood and Honey Poster (winner selected via Random.org from all eligible entries/questions).
There is no “jumping through hoops” to enter. Simply leave your question for Angelina in the comment section of this post.
This giveaway will end at 11:59 PM (EST) on January 11, 2012 and is open to US residents only. The winner will be notified via e-mail and will have three days to reply with a name and mailing address (no PO Box) or a new winner will be chosen.
Here is some more information about the film (below) which features a countdown clock to the interview as some behind the scenes clips of the film. I had to re-size it a bit to fit my blog. There are bars you can use to scroll up and down and side to side.
