If you check most kid’s wish lists I’m sure you will find them loaded with toys and games. These days I’m sure most kids have included hi-tech items on their list too including a smartphone and tablet.
As a parent I do what I can to get gifts off my kid’s wish lists. Depending on what they are and how much they cost I’ll try to get at least a few. I also try and include non-toy items such as books, magazine subscriptions and unique things (once we gave our son a “coupon” for a free trip into NYC which is his favorite place to be).
If you have a child who loves sports you might want to consider getting him/her a subscription to Sports Illustrated Kids magazine.
Sports Illustrated Kids THE magazine for boys and girls who love sports. It presents sports the way kids want to read about them: with great action photos, easy-to-read stories about star athletes, helpful instructional tips from the pros, and humor, comics, and activities. SI Kids is a great way to encourage kids to read, and it has won highest honors from the Association of Educational Publishers and the Parents’ Choice Award.
Growing up I would have never thought to ask “Santa” for a magazine subscription. I used to love to read a lot of those “teeny-bopper” magazines too like Tiger Beat. 🙂 I used to beg my mom for the latest issue month after month. In hindsight I should have just asked for a subscription.
Often subscriptions are a lot cheaper than buying a magazine issue every month. The newsstand prices are always more. I guess that is because you have to give a little to the “middle man” (the store you buy the magazine from). That is why it’s cheaper when you order directly from the publisher via a subscription.
Why should you consider giving SI Kids as a holiday gift this year? Here are a few good reasons why.
Reason #1: It’s the perfect stocking stuffer.
Reason #2:It promotes reading for children who are reluctant readers.
Reason #3:Each issue is full of exciting stories, photos and games that are a perfect distraction while traveling.
Reason #4: No gift wrapping – it’s delivered straight to your door.
Reason #5: It’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year through
Reason #6: You can receive an entire year in both print AND on your tablet for only $19.95 per year!
