I love a clean home. As much as I hate cleaning, I do like knowing that my home is clean for my family. That includes every room in our home, including the kitchen.
I don’t know about you but it irks me when I see a sink full of dishes. For some odd reason my kids will take a new cup every time they want a drink of water, instead of washing the one that they just used and putting it in the dish rack to dry. They would rather take a new one every time leaving a mountain of cups and other dishes in my sink.
A dish full of sinks is a pet peeve of mine. I don’t even like to see dishes pile up in the dish rack. As soon as I see that the dishes are dry I put them away. For me, a clutter free sink makes my kitchen look a lot cleaner.
Even though I’m a bit nutty when it comes to not seeing dishes in my kitchen, I actually don’t like to wash dishes. We do have a dishwasher but we rarely use it. The only time we use it if we have a big meals or company and A LOT of dishes to wash.
Washing dishes is not a fun part of my day. Not only that it’s horrible on my hands. My hands tend to dry out very quickly. I am the “Queen of Hand Lotions” because I am constantly putting lotion on my hands. Washing dishes is just one of the many ways my hands get “zapped” of moisture. I even keep lotion on my sink to apply as soon as I’m done doing the dishes.
Palmolive was kind enough to send me some free samples of their colorful Soft Touch line to try out at home. Instead of a plain old review they thought they would give me a little bit of a challenge. They asked me to prepare foods sort of resemble the color of the dish soap. They sent me the following products.
- Vitamin E Scent (Pink)
- Coconut Butter Scent (White)
- Aloe Scent (Green)
The Vitamin E Scent (Pink) was easy enough to come up with. I made Baked Ziti. After all, pink is part of the red family, and the pasta sauce used in the Baked Ziti is red.
If you have ever made Baked Ziti before you know what a mess it can make, especially the ooey gooey melted cheese. Sometimes my Baked Ziti tends to bubble over, so I try and keep a pan underneath it. The bottom pan is often hard to clean when the pasta sauce gets baked on to it.
For the Coconut Butter Scent (White) I made grilled chicken, pasta and broccoli mixed with garlic and olive oil. The broccoli wasn’t in the photo. I was still steaming it when I snapped the picture.
The chicken, pasta and broccoli dish is not nearly as messy as the Baked Ziti, but it still needs to be cleaned up none-the-less. You also have to take into consideration the olive oil. The last thing you want is the greasiness left on your plates and on the pots and pans.
For the Aloe Scent (Green) I was originally going to make some kind of broccoli or spinach dish. Thankfully my kids love broccoli and will eat spinach, so that wouldn’t have been a problem. I gave it a bit more thought about came up with the idea of making a green inspired dessert rather than a dinner. When I think green dessert I think of something minty. That is when I decided to make Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies to represent the green color.
My kids suggested that I color the cookies green to go along with the idea of the green color. My husband was not happy about that idea. He loves chocolate chip cookies, he just can’t stomach eating something that is green in color that it not suppose to be (it reminds him of moldy foods – LOL).
I ALWAYS end up burning cookies, especially the bottom of them. You can see that a few of the cookies are a bit crisp around the edges. There were plenty of burnt pieces left on the pans. You know how hard it is to scrap off and cleaned a burned on mess. Usually I just let them soak just to avoid putting some “elbow grease” behind cleaning them.
I used all three dish soaps over the past two weeks. I wanted to get a good feel for how each one worked, both on cleaning my dishes as well as how they made my hands feel. I used the dish soap to go along with the food I specifically prepared for them as well as other foods (regular dishes).
First let me say that all three did an excellent job washing dishes. Not only were they able to help me clean off ooey gooey messes (like melted cheese) and greasy oil (like olive oil) they also helped me to get off burned foods too (like my chocolate cookies).
As far as cleaning goes I give all three of them a two thumbs up.
Each one specifies what it can do for you. The Coconut Butter (White) helps give you silky smooth hands. The Aloe (Green – although it looks blue in the photo) is good for dry skin and the Vitamin E helps give you soft hands.
To be honest with you they all worked pretty much about the same. Regardless of which one I used to clean my dishes my hands were left feeling good. Normally my skin gets dry after washing dishes to the point were it it feels tight and sometimes itchy. I did not experience that with any of these dish soaps. Each one left my hands feeling nice and soft. Even after my first use I didn’t feel the need to apply lotion to my hands after washing the dishes. I few times I did out of force of habit, but it wasn’t necessary. My hands felt pretty good.
There is something I despise more than dirty dishes and that is dry, cracked, sore hands. Palmolive’s Soft Touch dish soaps left my hands feeling soft, moisturized and “happy”. 🙂
In case you were wondering each soap has it’s own scent too. You can sense a bit of Coconut Butter and Aloe in each of those varieties. They are not strong scents. They are subtle. The Vitamin E has a bit more of a floral scent to it. Of the three the Vitamin E is my favorite scent. Color wise I like the petal pink color too. I would have to say over all that the Vitamin E is my favorite of the three.
I am very pleased with my experiences with all three of these products. They are gentle on your hands, leaves them feeling soft and does a great job washing even the messiest dishes.
Look for the Palmolive Soft Touch products where ever dish soaps are sold.

I too can not stand a lot of dirty dishes in the sink, and I do like it when someone uses a glass and then gets another one. Just use the same glass for the day. I think this new Palmolive dish liquid looks like good stuff to use on my dishes. I am willing to give it a try, and will look for these next time I am at the store!
