Prepare yourself to be “pitch-slapped” again now that Pitch Perfect 2 is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.
Have you seen the original film? I did. In fact, I reviewed it when it first came out.
Pitch Perfect is one of those films that didn’t gain a lot of momentum until it was available for home viewing and aired on television. I know several people who love the film, but never saw it in theaters. That’s OK because plenty of movies are like that such as Elf and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (sorry… I have the holidays on my mind).
Pitch Perfect is certainly a very popular film nowadays which is why it went on to spawn a sequel, appropriately named Pitch Perfect 2.
The Bellas are back! In fact, all of the Bellas return for the sequel, as well as some new faces including the very funny character of Flo (Chrissie Fit) and Emily (Hailee Steinfeld).
The Bellas are now in their senior year and the group is run by Beca (Ana Kendrick). She replaced her friend Aubrey (Ana Camp) as the groups leader a few years earlier.
While performing on stage in front of the president, “Fat Amy” (Rebel Wilson) shows the audience a bit more than they expected when her costume tears in the most inappropriate location. This incident calls for immediate action to be taken against the Bellas and they are striped of their tour and replaced by a German group, Das Sound Machine (DAS).
During this time a new face appears in the Bellas home. A freshman name Emily has to be automatically accepted into the group because her mom was a Bella. In addition to Emily a very funny young lady name Flo is also a part of the Bellas.
The only way the Bellas can redeem themselves is by winning the World Acapella Championship, but that is not as easy as it sounds. They have to defeat their #1 competition – DAS – who always seem to be one step ahead of the Bellas.
Will the Bellas win? Will they be able to redeem themselves in the eyes of their fans? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Pitch Perfect 2, now available where movies are sold.
This film was OK. I didn’t think it was as good as the original, but it was still a fun and entertaining film.
Flo is my favorite character from this film. The stuff she says cracks me up.
As it was with the first film, there is a lot of great music in Pitch Perfect 2. I have the soundtrack and I enjoy listening to it. I even enjoy the Christmas song sung by Ana Kendrick and Snoop Dog.
I hosted a viewing party this past Saturday for the film. There was also a Twitter party where Chrissie Fit (Flo) answered questions from fans on Twitter.
I received some goodies to share with my guests, including photo props. I thought it would be fun to write on one of the props about the Twitter party and take a photo of it on top of the Empire State Building, which is where we were earlier on Saturday for our son’s birthday (he wanted to go to the top of the Empire State Building for his special day). Unfortunately I had the party time wrong. I thought it was 5:00 PM Eastern time – it was actually 5:00 PM West coast time – 8:00 PM East coast time. Ugh! I’m such a dork! To make matters worse I had my guests arrive around 5:00 PM East coast time for the party. Not only that I started the movie too early. We had to stop and grab a bit to eat, then resume the movie at 8:00 PM (EST) along with everyone else.
If you were following along with my tweets I apologize for the mistake. I messed up.
The party went well, despite having to stop and start the movie and have people stay later than they anticipated.
They LOVED the fun goodies that Universal Pictures sent us including snugly blankets, flashlights and super cool highlighter pens.
I had plenty of treats on hand, including pizza which I had to order to hold guests over until we started watching the film again at 8:00 PM. I also had the unusual chips, dips, coffee, soda, tea and cookies. I shared some photos on Twitter (@She_Scribes) and Instagram (SheScribes) if you would like to see them.
There are bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD. I normally watch them but I didn’t have time the night of the party. Be sure to check them out when you pick up a copy of the film.
Did you see Pitch Perfect 2? What did you think about it?
Be on the look out for a possible Pitch Perfect 3. I hear one is in the works.
Below is the film’s theatrical trailer. The film is now available for home viewing.
