I am a fanatic when it comes to bath and body products. I think most women are, even though they don’t admit it. I love to pamper myself as often as I can, even if it’s just something as simple as soaking in the bathtub or rubbing on some lovely scented body lotion.
We only have one bathroom for my family of four. We almost have it down to a science when it comes to allowing everyone time in the bathroom to shower and get ready, but that often means we are only allotted 10-15 minutes to shower and get dressed. When you are rushing to get done in the shower it’s not always possible to take time and enjoy spa-like products. That is why I usually take a shower at night or after everyone has gone to work and school so I don’t feel rushed.
I love to take baths. I try and take one at least once a week. It’s my little escape from reality for a half hour or so.
If you like baths you might find these little facts interesting.
- In Ancient Rome, citizens bathed daily at the Roman baths, which often included a soak in the caldarium (hot tub), some detoxing in the laconicum (sauna), finished with a refreshing swim in the frigidarium (cold pool)
- Early plumbing systems for bathing go back as far as around 3300 BC with the discovery of copper water pipes beneath a palace in the Indus Valley Civilization of ancient India
- Pedestal Tubs, unlike other claw foot-style tubs, do not actually have claw feet. The tub rests on a pedestal in what most would term an art deco style. Evidence of pedestal tubs dates back to the Isle of Crete in 1000 BC
- In the latter half of the 20th century, the once popular claw foot tub morphed into a built-in tub with a small apron front
- The Crane Company introduced colored bathroom fixtures to the US market in 1928
- Up until the late 1940s, many Americans only bathed once a week for personal hygiene
I thought you might enjoy these interesting little bathing “tid bits”. I can’t imagine only bathing once a week. I also like the way the Roman baths worked. I can’t imagine jumping in a cold pool after a hot bath and sauna.
Sadly, the reality is that I can’t enjoy baths as much as I’d like to. I have to settle with my 10-15 minutes in between the rest of my family taking their showers.
Neutrogena has some new shower and bath gels that give you spa quality pampering in the shower, even if you are short on time.
Their collection is called Rainbath® Refreshing Shower and Bath Gels. They are available in three pleasant scents – Original, Pear & Green Tea and Grapefruit. I love the Grapefruit! Actually all the scents are really nice, but Grapefruit is my favorite.
The Refreshing Shower and Bath Gels come in convenient pump bottles. Most bath and body products come in bottles or tubes you have to squeeze. I found that the pump makes it a lot more convenient to use. You simply push down a few times and allow the product to squirt out on your shower “puff” or wash cloth. There is also no lids to screw on and off, or a flip top to open/close.
Not only are the scents amazing, but they create a nice, rich later and rinse off completely without leaving any residue on your skin. There is nothing I hate more then that aweful residue that some products leave on your skin because it tends to dry your skin out. My skin is dry enough in the Winter months. I don’t need to use products to make it worse. That is why I appreciate that the Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower and Bath Gels are so nice, because they rinse off completely and leave your skin feels clean and soft.
You can find the new Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower and Bath Gels where ever Neutrogena products are sold. They retail for around $8.00 for the 8.5 ounce size. They are also available in 16 ounce and 32 ounce sizes.
