Noosa Yoghurt Australian-Style Yogurt

My kids and I love yogurt (my hubby won’t even give it a try). My kids have been enjoying it ever since they were babies and allowed to have it. In fact my kids barely ever go a day without having yogurt. It’s their #1 go to snack, especially after school. They often enjoy it with breakfast too.

We love to explore different yogurt varieties. That is why I was happy to try out a yogurt I have never heard of until now – Noosa Yoghurt.

Before you think I misspelled them name, it’s really spelled “Yoghurt”. It’s an Australian Greek-style yogurt. It’s sweetened with a touch of honey to give it a sweet-tart tang and a delightful velvety texture. Their yogurt is also made in small batches. It’s not mass produced like other yogurts on the market.

Noosa is made in Colorado. So it’s an American made, Australian style Greek yogurt. It makes is sound “worldly”. LOL!

Noosa is also made with all natural ingredients, contain no artificial hormones and it gluten free. It does contain probiotics which is good for your digestive system.

Noosa sent me samples of all their current flavors;

  • Blueberry
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberry-Rhubarb
  • Tart Cherry
  • Passion Fruit
  • Lemon
  • Peach
  • Honey

Also available are Mango and Plain.

The first thing you’ll notice is that the yogurt comes in a small, flat, round container 8 ounce container. There is a lot more in a Noosa container than traditional yogurts. I was pleased with the very generous size.

The first flavor I had to try was Strawberry-Rhubarb. That is a unique flavor for a yogurt.

The yogurt is thick and creamy, just like I expected a Greek-style yogurt would be. It’s not as thick, but pretty close to it. It’s in between regular yogurt and Greek yogurt as far as thickness. It’s very creamy and smooth.

The fruit is towards the bottom. You can mix it all up if you wish or just eat it “as is”. I prefer to mix things up.

There are bits and pieces of fruit, which I actually prefer. I like real bits of fruit in my yogurt and not just a gel-like fruity blend that you are suppose to mix up with the yogurt. I want to see real fruit pieces.

The Strawberry-Rhubarb blend was divine! I never knew those two flavors would work so well together. It’s also been ages since I’ve had Rhubarb. It was very nice to experience that flavor again.

I had a chance to try all the flavors listed above. I let my kids try each of the flavors too (we sampled each one). My top three flavors are Strawberry-Rhubarb, Honey and Blueberry. Blueberry, Tart Cherry and Raspberry were my kid’s top favorite flavors.

I would consider this “gourmet quality” yogurt.

Even though this is yogurt it has a lot more calories than typical yogurt. On average an 8 ounce serving (one container) ranges from 240 (plain) to 340 (lemon) with most of the other flavors clocking in at 290 per serving. They also have 10-15 grams of fat per serving (depending on the variety).

Due to the fat and calorie count I would consider this yogurt more of a “dessert yogurt”, one that you would serve to guests (you could easily transfer the yogurt into a fancy dish). Or enjoy it as an occasional treat.

Noosa Yoghurt is absolutely delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it (as did my kids). The fat and calories are the only things keeping me from buying this all the time for me and my kids.

Noosa is available at many retail locations including Target, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Fairway Market to name a few. There is a store locator on their site.

Have you tried Noosa Yoghurt before? What did you think about it? Do you have a favorite flavor?

  1. This sounds so interesting. I am usually not to big of a fan of Greek yogurt. But I think with a touch of honey this might give it more flavor. Thanks for the review.

  2. This is a brand of yogurt that I have never heard of before, I would love to try the Strawberry-Rhubarb and the Passion Fruit

I have tried this brand and its really quite good. It is nice and thick and has a terrrific flavor!

  4. Well I lived in Colorado for over a decade and never tried it, but I’ve heard of it. I like thicker yogurt to top my veggies and used to make my own. I’ll have to hunt it down and try it soon. The flavors sound great.

  5. So I saw this in my store and after reading your review thought I would give it a try. I had the Tart Cherry. It was really good. I am usually not a fan of Greek style yogurt. This was a great blend of flavors and didn’t taste like eating sour cream. Which is what most Greek yogurts are like in my opinion. It was a little higher priced then some but I will buy it again. I really want to try the raspberry. Thanks for the review. I never would have tried it if I hadn’t of read this.
