Oral-B teams up with the March of Dimes to celebrate Fatherhood’s littlest moments that power dad’s biggest smiles

Me and my father when he came home from Japan where he was stationed in the military.

Father’s Day is just around the corner. I have been blessed with two very special men in my life – My biological father and my paternal grandfather who helped raised me (I refer to him as my dad). Sadly my dad passed way last year. Thankfully my father is still very much a big part of my life. I am grateful that he’s best friends with my husband too.

My husband is also a great father. I know he doesn’t think that sometimes because we have teenagers and they tend to make us question our parenting skills (teens love to push those buttons and make us seem like we’re the worse parents ever…sigh…). I have seen him in action. I have seen him climb on monkey bars and get down on the floor to play with the kids. He’s always been a “hands on dad”, right down to 3 AM feedings and diaper changes.

Just last night my husband gave our son his very first razor and watched as he shaved for the first time on his own (my husband has helped him the past few times since he started shaving). My husband had the biggest smile on his face. He felt so proud to hand our son his own razor and watch him shave. On the other hand I was all misty eyed because it’s just more proof that our youngest is no longer a “child”.

There are so many times my husband finds reason to smile when it comes to our kids. They make him laugh. He’s a big kid himself so he’s always joking around with them. He even makes ME smile all the time.

My husband is not one to show his teeth when he smiles. He’s conditioned himself not to have a toothy smile. It’s because he needs braces. His mom was a widow and had to raise six children on her own after his father died when he was 11 years old. She didn’t have money for braces and as a result he has a few crooked teeth that he’s ashamed of. It’s a shame too because he takes excellent care of his teeth.

Oral-B, a leader in oral care, has teamed up with the March of Dimes for Father’s day, as well as joined forces with New York Giant’s quarterback Eli Manning and his children to help celebrate fatherhood’s little moments. These little moments can be helping your son shave for the first time, teaching your child to ride a bike, or simply sitting at the table and coloring together. Big or small there are plenty of moments that make us smile.

“Winning football games is an incredible feeling, but there’s still nothing quite like throwing around the football with my dad in the front yard like I used to as a kid, or tucking my daughters in at night,” said Manning. “That’s why I’m proud to partner with Oral-B and March of Dimes this Father’s Day – to celebrate those little moments between fathers and children, no matter where they live or what they do.”

I agree. I remember when I was little. I used to like to watch my father shave. He would always take a little bit of shaving cream and wipe it on the tip of  my nose. We also used to watch old Godzilla movies together.

The March of Dimes, a leading organization for healthy, happy families, now in its second year partnering with Oral-B on the Power of Dad campaign. We actually met another March of Dimes spokesperson a few years ago – Dee Snider, lead singer of Twisted Sister. It was totally by chance. We were at a local park and he was hosting a motorcycle ride for the March of Dimes and stopped at the same park. He was happy to take a picture with us (our kids were less than amused. LOL!).

“While the March of Dimes strives to see every baby be born strong and healthy, we also value the importance of bringing a smile to your baby’s face,” said Meri-Margaret Deoudes, vice president of Strategic Alliances, Corporate Relations and Cause Marketing for March of Dimes. “And we’re so happy to partner with Oral-B and Eli Manning to celebrate fathers everywhere, who are doing just that.”

In honor of dad’s everywhere, Oral-B is asking everyone to share their favorite fatherhood moment and photo. Simply upload your favorite fatherhood moment photo and include the hashtag #PowerofDad. You can also visit www.PowerofDad.com to see special moments shared by others as well as to watch a special video. In addition you can get a $7.00 off coupon for the purchase of the purchase of an Oral-B toothbrush, including their The new Oral-B BLACK 7000. This is like the “Mercedes” version of a powered toothbrush. LOL! It’s one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced power brush available.

The Oral-B BLACK 7000 would make a great gift for Father’s Day too. That way that special man in your life can care for their “pearly whites” to help keep their smiles clean and well cared for.

“This Father’s Day, we want to celebrate dads by giving them the power to keep smiling,” said Michelle Lohman, communications manager for Oral-B. “Oral-B power brushes help keep dads’ smiles healthy and beautiful, every step of the way.”

If you would like more information about Oral-B visit OralB.com. You can also check the brand out on Facebook, Twitter (@OralB) and on Instagram. You can also join in on the conversation by using the hashtag #PowerofDad.

I hope you’ll join in. I’d love to check out your special #PowerofDad moments. Please consider sharing them on your social media sites. You are welcome to hare the links in the comment section of this post so I can check them out. I am happy to “like” and “retweet” them for you too.
