Are you familiar with the cuddly little bear named Paddington? He’s a popular character in children’s literature. He wears a red floppy hat, blue coat and carries a suitcase. He’s very polite and love marmalade. Unfortunately for Paddington he’s always getting into trouble where ever he goes.
I fell in love with the character when I was a child. I always wanted my own plush Paddington Bear.
When I was a teenager I was in London (England) with my family. When were shopping at the famous Harrods I came across a plush Paddington. I just had to have it.
My bear sat on the shelf in my room for many years until I packed him away. When I became a mom for the first time I brought Paddington out of storage and used him in my daughter’s room, and eventually he was passed on to my son.
Paddington has since been packed away again but I am hopeful I’ll see him again either when we are finally able to buy a house or when I have grandchildren.
I am thrilled to announce that Paddington Bear is making his way to theaters this Christmas in his first film.
From the beloved novels by Michael Bond and producer David Heyman (HARRY POTTER), Paddington tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.
The film stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Nicole Kidman.
Here is the film’s trailer.
It looks really cute. I can’t wait to see it.
Yesterday (June 25, 2014) was Paddington’s birthday. He turned 56 years old! He doesn’t look a day over 5. 🙂
To celebrate his special day and his film’s debut this Christmas, Macy’s and The Weinstein Company proudly announced that Paddington will be trading in his London digs to the sky above the Big Apple as a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon. AWESOME!!!
My family and I have the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on our “Bucket List”. I would love to go this year and see the Paddington balloon. That would be a lot of fun.
If you would like to learn more about Paddington please visit the film’s Official Website. You can also check out the film on Facebook and follow it on Twitter. The official hashtag is #PaddingtonMovie.
What do you think about the film? Are you a Paddington fan? Feel free to share your thoughts.
