When I was a teenager and young adult, I would not leave the house if I wasn’t dressed up from top to bottom. Not only did I make sure that my hair and makeup was done, I also made sure that I wore a lot of jewelry. Back then I wore three earrings in each ear (these days I wear just one pair), a necklace to match my outfit, bracelets (and usually a lot of them) and rings from time to time. I didn’t feel like my “look” was complete without wearing jewelry.
Most of my jewelry back then was “costume” jewelry (inexpensive stuff). I only had three quality pieces of jewelry – an opal ring I received for my 16th birthday, an emerald “tennis bracelet” that my father gave me and a freshwater pearl necklace my then boyfriend gave me.
Fast forward to today. I don’t wear that much jewelry. I own plenty of lovely pieces, I just don’t wear them that often.
I was a stay at home mom for 18 years. I didn’t feel the need to wear expensive or fancy jewelry hanging out at home with my kids or cleaning our home. I even stopped wearing my engagement ring because the diamond kept getting caught on things.
I do enjoy wearing jewelry. Now that I work outside of the home I have been wearing my “fancy” jewelry more and more.
I don’t wear just any jewelry. I tend to wear pieces that means something to me. Take for example the beautiful initial “K” necklace my aunt gave me the first time we met since I was two years old (that is a post for another time). That means something special to me so every time I wear it I think of my aunt and new found family.
I tend to wear a lot of pieces that remind me of my family, most especially my husband and children. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I tend to wear a lot of pieces that have my family’s names or initials on them.
I’m a big fan of personalized jewelry. It has meaning to it and wearing it reminds you of people, places or special events in your life.
Six Sisters Beadworks offers a variety of exceptional personalized jewelry including necklaces, earrings and bracelets.
The jewelry found at Six Sisters Beadworks is made out of quality materials and made to last a lifetime. It’s the type of jewelry you pass down from generation to generation.
The brand even has jewelry for boys and men.
When you visit the Six Sisters Beadworks site you’ll find jewelry to celebrate special moments in our life time, like the birth of a baby (new baby jewelry), to wedding/bridal pieces and jewelry personalized for grandma reflecting all her beloved grandchildren.
I was sent a beautiful necklace from Six Sisters Beadworks to check out.
I chose a silver necklace with a heart charm. The heart charm is stamped with the first initial of my family (husband and two children). Because the necklace features my family’s initials I can’t show the photo of my necklace (I will never mention the names or initials of my husband and children for their personal safety).
Here is a photo from the Six Sisters Beadworks website that is identical to my necklace (with the exception that mine has initials on it, not a name).
This necklace is called Maya Hand Stamped Heart Necklace. It is handstamped and can be personalized with up to 12 characters (name, initials, special date…).
I appreciate that you can purchase different lengths for the necklaces. I have reviewed personalized jewelry in the past that have set sizes. I need at the very least an 18″ chain – ideally 20″ – 22″. I have a thick/chubby neck so 16″ are way too tight on me (I can’t even get them on!) and an 18″ is like a chocker on my neck. At Six Sisters Beadworks you can purchase necklaces from 16″ all the way up to 30″.
Even their bracelets are available in different sizes to work with all of their customers (from 7″ up to 8.5″).
I love this necklace because it’s both casual and dressy at the same time. I can easily wear it to work and transition over to an evening outfit without having to swap out my jewelry.
Personalized jewelry is a timeless gift that anyone can appreciate and cherish. I even have the baby rings that once belonged to my biological mother, father and grandfather. They were passed on to me and I am going to pass them on to my kids one day, just like I will with other special jewelry that I own.
Personalized jewelry is great for a newborn baby (Six Sisters Beadworks baby bracelets are beautiful), to commemorate a special day, a wedding gift – and even to commemorate a special location (the brand has jewelry that features the coordinates of your special place like your place of birth or home).
Here are a few pieces available from Six Sisters Beadworks.
They even carry non-personalized jewelry. The Ocean Blue Gemstone Necklace (pictured above) is gorgeous! And I love the idea of giving a child jewelry personalized with “Big Sister” or “Big Brother” for the birth of their sibling. I wish I would have thought of something like that when our son was born (to gift to our daughter).

Six Sisters Beadworks has even been featured on the Today Show.
