Resurrection – Premiring on ABC Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 9:00 PM (EST) / 8:00 PM (CST)

I just had the opportunity to screen the premiere episode of a new series airing on ABC Sunday nights at 9:00 PM (EST) / 8:00 PM (CST) called Resurrection. Perhaps you have already seen the commercials for it on TV.

The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to return. An 8-year-old American boy wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea how he got there. Details start to emerge when the boy, who calls himself Jacob, recalls that his hometown is Arcadia, and an Immigration agent, J. Martin Bellamy, takes him there. The home he claims as his own is occupied by an elderly couple, Henry and Lucille Langston, who lost their son, Jacob, more than 30 years ago. While they look different, young Jacob recognizes them as his parents. Those closest to the family try to unravel this impossible mystery — but this boy who claims to be the deceased Jacob knows secrets about his own death that no one else knows.

Even just reading the description of the series has piqued my interest. Imagine a child you lost 30+ years ago and was buried suddenly shows up at your front door. It blows my mind just thinking about it. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I think I would just faint!

Resurrection stars Omar Epps (Agent Bellamy), Kirkwood Smith (Henry Langston), Francis Fisher (Lucille Langston) and Landon Gimenez as Jacob Langston.

From the very opening scene the show has you hooked. How is it that a young American boy wakes up in the middle of a rice filed in rural China, hundreds of miles away from the nearest city? He has no passport. No identity except the name “Jacob” inscribed on the inside of his shirt.

Agent Bellamy as supposed to turn the boy over immigration officials but he took a chance and tried to help the boy locate his home after the boy scribbled the word “Acadia” on his cellphone. Agent Bellamy wanted to see the young boy returned to his family and not get lost in the foster care system.

If Agent Bellamy didn’t return Jacob to Arcadia he wouldn’t have stumbled upon this incredible mystery. Jacob is claiming to be an elderly couples son who died 30+ years earlier. The boy knows things only their son would know. Jacob even bumps into a childhood friend who is now near his 40’s who is equally as baffled by this mysterious boy.

Who is Jacob? Can he be their deceased son? Is he just pretending to be their son Jacob? What secrets does this boy know that he’s not sharing with Agent Bellamy or this so-called parents? To find out you need to tune in to Resurrection premiering this Sunday at 9:00 PM / 8:00 PM.

I’m hooked on the show already. Just before the episode ended there was a new twist in this impossible scenario. Now I have to see what the new character has to do with Jacob and mystery surrounding how he came back to life – or did he?

I love this show. It really has a lot going of for it – great actors, mystery, suspense and a great story line.

Thank you so much. Just set up my DVR to do a series recording. I kept seeing the commericals for this and my DVR wouldn’t go that far ahead. I don’t watch many ABC shows, except during the Olympics , prefer summer games, and it was then that I saw this commercial. I set up DVR for NBC Believe on a oneday nite at 10 and kept thinking …when is that other show gonna be on.

    Thank you

This looks interesting. My husband is not a big TV watcher but I think he could get into this. I’d love to be able to watch a show with him like this.
