How are you doing when it comes to using hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available? Were you fortunate to find some at the beginning of the pandemic (now they are impossible to find), or did you resort to making your own?
My family was fortunate that we did have some before everyone made a mad dash to the stores to buy them all up. I had a few pocket size ones and a few pump bottles. I also have aloe and rubbing alcohol, just in case.
I haven’t left our home much since this all started. My last “normal” day was March 16th. My last day of work was March 12th. Since then I have only made brief trips to the bank or pharmacy, or doctor’s appointments.
I have hand sanitizer clipped to my purse so that I have it with me where ever I go. I also have a small bottle in my car.
I understand the need for hand sanitizer when soap and water and unavailable. Trust me, I know that very well. I am considered “high risk” when it comes to catching COVID-19, so I take extra precautions to protect myself and my family.
I am not a fan of hand sanitizer. It’s either too thick or too runny, and sometimes (depending on which one I use) it makes my hands feel sticky. Don’t even get me started on how much it dries out your skin. I’ve been moisturizing my hands like crazy to combat the dryness from the hand sanitizer.
Surely there has to be a better way to sanitize your hands. Actually, there is.
About a year or so ago, I reviewed some perfume from a brand called DefineMe. DefineMe is the vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly line of fragrances looking to empower.
During this crazy time in history, DefineMe didn’t want to stand back and do nothing. As a result, the brand launched its scented, moisturizing hand sanitizer spray called DefineMe HANDS. Staying true to their values HANDS is made with only quality ingredients to deliver you the very best.
HANDS does not use any of those nasty chemicals other sanitizers do. This natural sanitizing spray only uses four clean ingredients:
- Ethyl alcohol 75% (derived from organic sugarcane)
- Aloe vera
- Coconut oil
- DefineMe’s clean, vegan and cruelty-free fragrance “Love Scent”
DefineMe sent me a bottle of HANDS to try out for myself.
My first impression of HANDS is that it resembles a perfume bottle. However, when you read the front of it, you soon realize what the product is.
I was interested in how this hand sanitizer would compare to regular hand sanitizers. HANDS is by far a much better option.
To use HANDS, simply spritz a few sprays on to each hand to completely cover them. Then rub your hands together until the product dries (it dries lightening fast!).
Unlike other hand sanitizers, HANDS leaves your hands feeling really soft and smooth. It’s as if you sprayed your hands with lotion, not a hand sanitizer (that is how it feels). I was blown away by how great my hands felt immediately after using the product.
I don’t have any cuts on my hands, so I cannot tell you if it burns/strings cuts, but on regular hands, it did not burn or sting. I have sensitive skin (depending on the product) and I had no bad reaction to this product at all.
HANDS smells SO GOOD! It’s made with DefineMe’s “Love Scent,” which is made up of notes of Peony, Sandalwood, and Jasmine. It smells amazing! It’s not an overwhelming scent either.
Some people might think this is a “girly” scent, but I let my husband and son try the spray and smell it, and they both said they have no problem using it. They never mentioned it being a “girly” scent. I think the Sandalwood helps to make the scent a wee bit more unisex.
Another great thing about HANDS is that you get 460 sprays per bottle. That’s a lot! That is a lot more than those little brand name pocket sized hand sanitizer that I have in my car.
HANDS is in an average size perfume-like glass bottle. You can easily tuck this in your purse, backpack or glove box.
To make things even better, for every bottle of HANDS sold, the brand is donating $1.00 to No Kid Hungry, the organization feeding children in need across America. So far, DefineMe has donated 8,540 meals! By the time you read this, it will hopefully be many more.
For those looking to do more during the current health crisis, DefineMe is offering two reward program points for every dollar donated to any charitable organization. Simply send your proof of donation via the brand’s contact page.
I am in love with this product! The scent. The ease of use. The quality ingredients. The way is makes my hands feel. The charitable contribution. There is nothing I don’t love about this product.

On a side note… DefineMe has created a Disney perfume, inspired by the beloved character of Ariel (Little Mermaid).
The perfume’s “scent wave” consists of;
“Swell” – Citrusy Neroli and Bergamot
“Crest” – Jasmine and Lilac
“Break” – Tonika Bean, Coconut and Driftwood.
DefineMe sent me a sample sized version of the perfume. It’s a lovely scent. It’s a great “everyday” scent, meaning you can wear it to work, running errands, or a night out on the town. It’s a very flexible scent. It’s not overpowering. I can definetly smell the driftwood, jasmine and beramot. Those scents stand out the most to me. I pick up a little of the coconut and Tonika bean. I haven’t really smelled lilac (lilac is my all time favorite scent).
The bottle is beautiful too. What a lovely tribute to everyone’s favorite under the sea princess.
“Ariel” is also available for purchase on the DefineMe website.
