There are sometimes I wish I was a kid again. Not for obvious reasons (I hate getting old!) but because I think that kids these days have all the fun. They are growing up with iPods, computers, 3-D movies and a lot of cool high-tech things. They also have a lot of fun toys and treats too. Things we didn’t have growing up.
As a kid I used to love candy. I still do! Some of my favorite candies as a kid were candy necklaces, candy cigarettes, fireballs, gum balls and an assortment of “penny candies”.
My kids love candy too but I like to keep an eye on what they are allowed to indulge in. Candy is fine, I just don’t want my kids to over do it. The less sugar in their diets the better.
Normally sugar free candies are gross. They have an artificial taste or the leave a horrible taste in your mouth afterwards. Kids are usually quick to pick up on sugar free candies and most of the time they won’t eat them. I have to say I don’t blame them.
Not long ago my kids had the opportunity to try Sugar Free Ring Pops. They loved Ring Pops when they were little and still enjoy them now even though they are older. Ring Pops seem to be “cool” among ‘tweens and teens as much as they are little kids. I see a lot of my daughter’s friends with Ring Pops. One of her Facebook friends has her picture taken with one too.
I didn’t want my kids to know they were sugar free up front. I figured if I told them they would not want to try them. They look exactly like regular Ring Pops. You cannot tell the regular from the Sugar Free.
Both of my kids enjoyed the Sugar Free Ring Pop just like they normally do with regular Ring Pops. They didn’t notice a difference at all. I never told them anything about the Sugar Free Ring Pops. I figured I would let them try another one and see if they notice a difference.
A couple of days later I offered them the Ring Pops again. Both of my kids happily accepted them. Once again they enjoyed them like they normally do.
This time I told them they were Sugar Free Ring Pops. My son didn’t seem to care. My daughter questioned me about them being Sugar Free. She asked “Are you sure?”. That is when I showed her the package they came in. She was surprised.
I asked both of my kids if the noticed a difference between the Sugar Free and regular Ring Pops. Both of my kids said “No”. I asked if they had any artificial taste or odd after taste and they both said “No”.
The Sugar Free Ring Pops are sweetened with Splenda and contain contain no fat. They are 30 calories each. They also contain 13 grams of carbs and 35 mg of Sodium.
Sugar Free Ring Pops are available in Strawberry, Watermelon and Blue Raspberry flavors. My kids fought over who got the Watermelon. Apparently that is their favorite.
I tasted the Sugar Free Ring Pop myself (Strawberry flavor). I have never had the regular Ring Pops before so I can’t compared the two but I did think that the Sugar Free Ring Pop tasted sweet enough to pass as a non-sugar free candy. Another words it still has a sweet taste.
Sugar Free Ring Pops are available 3 per bag where ever Ring Pops are sold.

Sugar free is awesome but the taste sometimes is a bummer. So anything others found to be a good review is something I would like to try. I know she would enjoy these as I did as a kid.
