What’s new with Kohl’s Cares

Clifford

If you are a regular reader of She Scribes you know that I absolutely LOVE the Kohl’s Cares program.

If you are unfamiliar with the program, Kohl’s Care is a special program set up by Kohl’s to raise money for children’s charities.

To date, the Kohl’s Cares program has raised nearly $300 million through it’s special merchandise program.

To reinforce the company’s commitment to children’s health, Kohl’s has donated financial support to hospitals across the country. The donations fund hospital outreach programs focused on children’s health initiatives and address the specific issues needed most in each hospital’s community. These tailored programs provide vital resources to families at no cost and include topics such as injury prevention, asthma awareness, dental care, and fitness.

I an honored to support a program that does so much for children in need.

Every few months Kohl’s Cares puts out books, plush animals and other fun merchandise for both children and adults. You can find the products on the Kohl’s website (search for Kohl’s Cares). You can also find the products near the checkout area.

Each Kohl’s Cares product sells for $5.00. What I love is that Kohl’s Cares usually puts out delightful children’s books (many of them classics) and matching plush animals. Each costs $5.00 (they are not sold in sets). For $10 you can have a wonderful hardcover book and a snugly soft plush to give to your child/grandchild or as a gift to another child. At the same time funds from your Kohl’s Care purchases is going to support children’s charities. It’s a win-win situation all around.

I have been an avid fan of the Kohl’s Cares program for years now. Some items I have purchased for me and/or my family. Some I have given as gifts. And often I have donated books, toys and plush to where I work.

Here are some of my personal favorites from over the years.

I like to display the book/plush combo on one of our bookcases. I switch them up very few weeks.

Growing up I was an avid reader, and I loved plush animals. That love has carried into my adult years. That is why I enjoy displaying books/plush that were mine, or my kid’s, favorites.

You can see some of the Kohl’s Cares products I have donated to where I worked too. Remember, Kohl’s Cares sells other products (not just books and plush). You’ll see one example, a puzzle, pictured below.

Books

The Disney books in the middle area are Kohl’s Cares books.

Currently the Kohl’s Cares program is selling Clifford the Big Red Dog books and plush animals. I love Clifford! He was a favorite of mine when I was younger. My kids also enjoyed reading Clifford books and watching him on television.

Did you know that the late actor, John Ritter, was the voice of Clifford for a while? It’s such a shame that he had to die so young.

I LOVE the plush toys! They are not only adorable (and look just like the characters) but they are super soft and snugly. They are also a decent size (they are not little), making them idea for little hands to carry around.

Kohls Cares Clifford

What would be better than having a Clifford the Big Red Dog book read to you (Kohl’s Cares has four to choose from) all while cuddling a snugly friend at bedtime.

As I mentioned earlier, Kohl’s Cares sells other products as well. Currently available is this fun coloring set.

I received the coloring set to review. It contains a variety of books (coloring book, activity book, doodle book), stickers and crayons. I had taken pictures of it but I can’t seem to find them.

2454255

All that for only $5.00 AND it helps children’s charities too.

There is also a super adorable Clifford the Big Red Dog backpack – idea for a child just starting school. I received one to review too and I can’t find those pictures either (all of the picture were together). I have since donated it to a local charity so I no longer have it to take photos of (I filled it with back to school supplies).

If you would like to learn more about the Kohl’s Cares products, or to find a Kohl’s location near you, visit Kohls.com. You can also find the brand on social media.

Now would be a great time to stock up for holiday gifts or upcoming children’s birthdays. You can’t beat a quality stuff animal and hardcover book combination for only $10 ($5 each). The books alone are more than half off what you would pay for them elsewhere (I found one of the book on Amazon for $13+).

Have you ever purchased a Kohl’s Cares product?

What do you think about the program? Feel free to share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.

If you have read my blog on a regular basis you know how much I really LOVE the products from the Kohl’s Cares program. Just in case you are not familiar with Kohl’s Cares, I’ll give you a brief introduction.

Throughout the year Kohl’s, as part of their Kohl’s Cares program, offers specific products for only $5.00 each. They usually include adorable plush toys, books, games and more. One hundred percent of the net profits goes to support children’s health initiatives nationwide.

I have been a fan of the Kohl’s Cares products for a long time. My favorites are the book and matching plush combinations. Kohl’s Cares usually always has special books with a matching plush toy. They are $5.00 each ($10 for the set). They make wonderful gifts for children for birthday’s, holidays, baby showers, new baby and “just because.”

I have several book plush sets that I display on my bookcase and rotate throughout the year (usually when there are new products from Kohl’s Cares). One I keep on display all the time – Put Me in the Zoo book and matching plush. It was one of my favorite books growing up.

Here is just a few pieces from my Kohl’s Cares collection.

Some of the pieces I keep for myself to share with my future grandchildren. Others I donate to where I work (I work with children).

The items offered through Kohl’s Cares changes every few months. The products are available both online and in stores. In our local Kohl’s store the Kohl’s Cares products are on display near the check out lines.

The products are available while supplies last, so if you see something you want I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it.

Check out what is new right now from Kohl’s Cares.

Kohls Cares

I have the Penguin and the Bear, as well as a couple of the books. The books I donated to where I work. The plush I kept to give to our neighbors who are expecting.

The books are hardcover with dust jackets. If you have ever purchased a hard cover children’s book you know they can be expensive. These books are only $5 each.

I love the plush toys. They are SO SOFT! They are made exceptionally well. I can see them being someone’s best friend for years to come. They are the perfect size to tote around too.

I adore the matching books. Together the plush and the book make a wonderful gift. Where else can you find something so cute for $10 (book & plush)?

If you have a lot of young family members, grandchildren or your own children you should consider stocking up on these. These would even be great for a last minute children’s party invitation. It’s always great to have extra gifts on hand just in case. Anyone would be thrilled to receive these delightful gifts from Kohl’s Cares.

Don’t forget, 100% of the net profit from the sales of these items goes to the Kohl’s Cares charitable contributions.

Previous Koh’s Cares book/plush offering.

If you read my blog on a regular basis you have probably read a post (or two!) about the Kohl’s Cares program. I am a HUGE fan of Kohl’s Cares and I LOVE the products they offer.

If you are unfamiliar with Kohl’s Cares, it’s a special collection of products that Kohl’s sells year round to help raise funds for children’s health initiatives nationwide. Kohl’s gives 100% of the proceeds from these products to charity.

The Kohl’s Cares collection of products change every few months. Each product is only $5.00.

I was an avid reader growing up. I loved reading so much that I saved many of my favorite books from my childhood and passed them on to my children. Now that my kid are grown, I put all my books – as well as their favorite childhood books – in storage, awaiting the day that I can read these books to my grandchildren (and Lord willing, great-grandchildren).

Previously offered Kohl’s Cares books.

What I love about the Kohl’s Cares collection is that they usually offer a book/plush combo. They often carry beloved children’s book as well as a plush toy from the book. Each are sold separately ($5 each). As a “set” ($10) they make a WONDERFUL gift. What child wouldn’t want to snuggle with a cuddly plush animal while reading (or being read to) a delightful story book.

If you have a child who is invited to birthday parties often, or plenty of nieces and nephew, I would recommend stocking up on the book/plush “sets” so that you have great gifts at a moments notice. Not only that, you are helping to raise fund for children’s charities. It’ a win-win situation.

Kohl’s Cares doesn’t only sell children’s books and plush toys – the have products for grown ups as well.

The Kohl’s Cares collection changes every few months. I keep Kohls.com bookmarked on my computer and check the site once a week to see if there are new product available. You can also check them out at you local Kohl’s store. The Kohl’s Cares products are usually found new the cash registers.

Frederick

Currently the Kohl’s Cares collection features award winning children’s books from renowned author/illustrator Leo Lionni. Lionni wrote and illustrated one of my favorite books from my childhood – Frederick. It’s a story about an adorable little gray mouse. Now I need to find a little red flower to put in his hand/paw.

When I found out that Kohl’s Cares was offering not only the book Frederick, but also a matching plush toy, I knew I had to have the set. In fact, I tend to buy all the book/plush combos whenever possible. I like decorating our bookcase with them. Because Kohl’s Cares offers new products ever few months, I get to change the book/plush combo often. Then I just rotate them throughout the year.

One set I keep out all the time – Put Me in the Zoo. I love the plush. He’s so soft!

Put-Me-in-the-Zoo

The products are only available for a limited time and once they are sold out they are gone. That is why I am quick to purchase them.

Kohl’s Cares has always been kind enough to send me free samples to review whenever new products come out (THANK YOU KOHL’S CARES!). Then I purchase all the additional products on my own with my own money.

The book is wonderful and the plush is SO SOFT and cuddly!

The book is wonderful and the plush is SO SOFT and cuddly!

The books are hardcover books with dust jackets. If you go to any bookstore you’ll end up paying MORE than $5 for the same book.

The plush animals are also a high quality. I have many of them and they are made exceptionally well. Some might think a $5 plush toy would be made poorly. That is not the case at all. They are made very well.

Here are the items currently available through the Kohl’s Cares program.

Kohl's Cares Collection

  • Frederick book and mouse soft toy
  • A Color of His Own book and chameleon soft toy
  • It’s Mine! Book and frog soft toy
  • Cornelius book and crocodile soft toy
  • Swimmy book
  • Tote bag
  • 101 Kids Activities book

I was sent A Color of His Own, chameleon plush toy, It’s Mine! book and plush frog, tote bag and 101 Kids Activities book. I purchased the book Frederick and plush, as well as Cornelius book and plush on my own.

I work with children from 1st – 7th grade. The 101 Kids Activities book is awesome! It’s filled with great ideas that I can easily utilize with the children that I work with. Most of the activities use products that are found around most homes and/or classrooms. It’s a great book to have on hand for a cold, winter day or rainy days.

Too Cute!

Too Cute!

I cannot say enough about the plush toys. I love them! They are absolutely adorable! I’m a big kid at heart and I adore these sweet plush toys.

Sometimes I donate the products where I work. Other times I keep them for myself because they are just too cute to part with.

After all, the holiday season is about good will towards others. What a better way than to purchase wonderful gifts for those on your holiday shopping list AND help out children’s charities at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.

Currently Kohl’s Care is offering adorable, soft and snugly plush animals and matching books by Nancy Tillman. The stories are charming and the illustrations are beautiful.

I LOVE the book/plush combinations that Kohl’s Cares puts out year round. I have many “sets” in my family’s library collection. I like to display the book and plush together on the bookshelf. I rotate them every few months.

I’m just a bit kid at heart and I love displaying charming things around my home. I am also making a nice collection of children’s books for my future grandchildren. I’m looking forward to reading them the books while they cuddle with their furry friend.

Books

The current available book titles are;

  • You’re Here for a Reason
  • On the Night You Were Born
  • Where Ever You Are My Love Will Find You
  • I’d Know You Anywhere My Love

The books are truly beautiful and each one expresses love in its purest form. I enjoyed reading each and every one of them.

The matching plush animals are adorable. The Panda is especially fuzzy. Every time I pick it up I utter the words “It’s so fluffy!,” just like Agnes did in the film Despicable Me.

Each item is only $5.00 (a book/plush combo will cost you $10.00). Where else can you get a beautiful hardcover book AND a quality made plush toy for $10.00? Most hardcover books will cost you that amount, and the plus animals would sell for MORE in other stores.

These “sets” would make for great holiday gifts as well as “grab bag” gifts for school. You can also buy them as sets or individually and donate to a local children’s charity such as Toys for Tots to give to underprivileged children and families in need. Not only will you be promoting literacy, you’ll also be provide a child in need with a new “friend” which will provide comfort and joy.

Another fun children’s product from the current line of Kohl’s Cares products are Color Me Christmas Cards. Your child can color and decorate their own holiday cares and write their own personal messages inside. The set comes with 20 cards to color, envelopes and three markers. You can also color the cards with colored pencils. The lines are very thin, so crayons might now work as well.

Kohl’s Cares always has products from grown ups too. This time they are offering a holiday music CD by Blake Sheldon – Blake Sheldon Christmas. The holiday CD features the following songs;

  • Jingle Bell Rock – featuring Miranda Lambert
  • Oklahoma Christmas- featuring Reba
  • There’s a New Kid in Town- featuring Kelly Clarkson
  • Home featuring Michael Bublé
  • Winter Wonderland
  • Silent Night- featuring Sheryl Crow
  • The Christmas Song
  • Blue Christmas- featuring Pistol Annies
  • I’ll Be Home For Christmas
  • Silver Bells- featuring Xenia

CD

I’m not a fan of country music, but I do enjoy this CD. I especially like the duets with Kelly Clarkson and Michael Bublé.

Kohl’s Cares is also offering a holiday book called Holiday Delights featuring recipes, crafts and gift ideas from Good Housekeeping, Redbook and Country Living. Not only would this make a great gift it would also be nice for you to buy for yourself to help you with yummy recipes for your holiday meals and gifts you can make for family and friends.

The holiday book, Christmas CD and Christmas cards are also only $5.00 each and all the proceeds goes to the Kohl’s Cares program.

Kohl’s Cares has a new set of products that are currently available while supplies last. These are so cute that I had to buy all of them.

I received to review the classic book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” along with a matching plush and a super cute matching lunchbox. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen my photo. Kohl’s also shared it on their Instagram page too.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

They have other books/plush from the series too including “If You Give a Pig a Pancake,” “If You Give a Moose a Muffin,” and “If You Give a Dog a Donut.”

Kohs Cares

I see the super adorable (and cuddly) dog from the “If You Give a Dog a Donut,” but I don’t see the book available online. It might be sold out in which case you should check your local Kohl’s store to see if it’s there. In our Kohl’s stores the Kohl’s Cares products are sold next to the cash registers.

These sets are SO ADORABLE! I couldn’t resist purchasing all of them. Not only do I find them cute but my kids used to like the story “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” so they have sentimental value to me as well.

Dog a Donut

These sets are fun to display in any child’s room or a family’s library. I love displaying my sets. Here are two of the latest ones and one of my all time favorites (“Put Me in a Zoo”).

Set 1

Set 2

These sets make great gifts. Each book and plush combo is only $10. Where else can you find a quality gift that will be appreciate (and loved) for $10? Whenever possible I like to pick up a few extra sets so I always have great gifts handy when we’re invited to younger relative’s birthday parties (or for Christmas).

Occasionally Kohl’s Cares offers products for adults too, such as cookbooks (I have a few of those as well).

As I mentioned earlier, these products are available only while supplies last so if you are interested in any of them don’t delay.

Bookmark the Kohl’s website and check back every few months for new Kohl’s Cares products.

Are you familiar with Kohl’s Cares? Kohl’s Cares is a special charity from the retail giant that helps to support children’s health and educational programs across the country. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Kohl’s Cares products goes towards these programs. Since the year 2000, Kohl’s Cares has raised a whopping $257 million dollars. That is amazing.

Kohl’s Cares offers wonderful products for both children and adults. Every Kohl’s Cares products sells for $5.00. And let me tell you from personal experience, the products are worth much more than that. Some people might assume the products are cheaply made for such a low selling point. That is not the case at all. Take their plush animals for example. They are just as well made as the $25+ plush you find in specialty stores. Unlike those plush 100% of the sale of the Kohl’s Cares plush goes towards children’s charities.

I personally enjoy the products offered through Kohl’s Cares. They do offer “grown up” things like cookbooks (which I love), but mostly it’s books and plush animals. Often the plush and the books match up. For example, last time around Kohl’s Cares offered a plush “Dough/Dug” (don’t remember how it’s spelled) from the film Up. In addition they also offered an Up book.

UP

I’m a bit kid at heart so I often purchase the books and matching plush – I can’t have one without the other. LOL! Some I keep for myself. I display them on my bookcases and I rotate them a few times per year. Others I hold on to as a set to give as a gift. It’s always a great idea to have gifts on hand and I like offering the little kids in my life the plush/book combo. It makes a wonderful and appreciated gift plus it only costs you $10 ($5 each). How often can you find a quality gift at that price point?

I also donate some of the plush and books to my place of employment. The kids love them and it makes me smile when I see them enjoying them.

Kohl’s Cares offers new products for a limited time (until supply lasts) every few months. I make sure to bookmark their site and check in every few weeks to see if they have new products available. I don’t want to miss out on anything.

Kohl’s Cares is currently offering some of these delightful products. REMEMBER each product is $5 – they do not come as a set.

Bear Elephant Turtle Whale

Kohl’s Cares was kind enough to send me the Bear and book set, as well as the Turtle and book set. I love the plush and books so much that I went out and purchased the Elephant and Whale plush, as well as their matching books.

These are not mini-plush animals. They are full size (regular plush size) – ideal for hugging and snuggling up with at night.

I love the books! Not only are the stories delightful (perfect for bed time), the illustrations are beautiful too. They are quick reads with only a few words or a single sentence on most pages. These books would be great for early readers too.

If any of these interest you I would recommend you visit your local Kohl’s soon, or shop online. Once they are sold out there will be no more.

Kohls Cares Spring 2015

Make sure to check Kohl’s often, or visit their online site, to see what new Kohl’s Cares products are available. They change throughout the year.

Look for the Kohl’s Cares products near the check out lanes. They are usually on prominent display. Remember, 100% of the proceeds goes towards children’s health and educational charities.
