The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season now available

TWD S6

Anyone who knows me personally knows how much I LOVE the AMC’s The Walking Dead. I have been a huge fan since day one. I have NEVER missed an episode – ever. And I’ve seen each episode numerous times. Every time they do marathons of the series my husband and I usually always watch them.

My desk has several TWD figurines/toys on it. I even have Daryl’s “ear necklace” hanging up in my car (real fans will know what I’m talking about), “Lucille” on our television stand and Michonne’s Katana in my bedroom closet (a gift for my hubby).

With each passing season The Walking Dead gets more and more intense and complex.

With season six it’s not the “walkers” the group has to fear – it’s other humans.

Admittedly I started watching the series to see all the zombies, but now that we have invited these characters into our living room week after week we are more interested in the people – more so than the zombies.

Season six probably has the most talked about season cliffhanger than any other season of the series. The season ended months ago and people are STILL talking about it and their theories about who Negan killed with his barb wired covered bat he named “Lucille.”

I made this "Lucille" for my husband for Christmas.

I made this “Lucille” for my husband for Christmas.

Personally I’m hoping its NOT a man character. I’d be OK with Eugene, Abraham, Aaron and/or Rosita. Please DON’T let it be Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Shasha, Michonne or Carl. We know it’s not Rick since he’s the central character in the series.

I have seen every episode of the season, but I wanted a copy of the series for the bonus features. I have seasons 1-5 already in our collection and I always find that the bonus features are well worth owning the season on Blu-ray/DVD. Season Six is no exception.

I won’t give away the story lines of Season Six in case some readers missed a few episodes. I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I will say that this season is VERY intense and you have to see very episode.

The Blu-ray set for Season Six has many “must see” bonus features.

First and foremost there is a lot of audio commentary. If you read any of my Blu-ray/DVD reviews you’ll know that I am NOT a fan of audio commentary. I skip over those types of bonus features. However I make allowances for the audio commentary with The Walking Dead Blu-rays/DVDs because I really want to know every tiny detail about what goes on behind the scenes.

Season Six has audio commentary from Writer & Executive Producer Scott Gimple, Executive Producer/Special Effects Make Up Artist Greg Nicotero and cast members including Norma Redus (Daryl), Lennie James (Morgan), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Melissa McBride (Carol), Steven Yeun (Glenn), and Alanna Masterson (Tara). A lot of the commetary is about specific episodes.

Daryl's Ear "Necklace" that hangs in my car.

Daryl’s Ear “Necklace” that hangs in my car.

I love that this collection features little nuggets of the making of the episodes, giving viewers a fantastic behind the scenes look at each episode. This is one of my favorite features. It gives me more of an appreciation for what goes on to bring this incredible series to the screen week after week.

The memoriam featurette highlights some of the characters that were killed off this season.

I also really liked the feature entitled Negan: Someone to Fear. Oh my goodness!!! He’s really going to be a strong force to contend with. I cannot fathom how our beloved group of survivors are going to get out from under Negan without him killing off more group members.

The Face of Death: Iconic Walkers of the Season is another interesting bonus feature. It shows how the walking dead have changed (appearances) this season. How they produce the make-up and prosthetics to make the dead look so realistic is so cool!

There are a few other features, including deleted scenes.

If you pick up a copy of Season Six you really should set aside an evening just to view the bonus features. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. They are well worth every minute of them.

Season Six is not a season to miss. Plus now is a great time to catch up on anything you missed before the new season starts October 23, 2016.

Look for The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season where ever Blu-rays/DVDs are sold.

Are you a fan of the series? Who is your favorite character? What did you think of Season Six?

Most importantly… who do you think Negan kills?

AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead Season One now available on Blu-ray/DVD

Fear the Walking Dead

I am a die hard The Walking Dead fan. I have never missed an episode and I’ve seen every episode several times (with the exception of the current season).

I’ve enjoyed zombie-related things long before zombies were trendy.

My first introduction to zombies was Dawn of the Dead (1978). I was 10 years old. Since then I have always been fascinated (and entertained) by zombie films.

I was very excited to hear about a spin-off from The Walking Dead. Called Fear the Walking Dead, the new series explores a different location and a different set of people during the same time as The Walking Dead. In fact, Fear the Walking Dead starts at the onset of the zombie apocalypse where as The Walking Dead picks up a few months after zombies started to talk over the planet.

Fear the Walking Dead focuses on a couple – Madison Clark and Travis Manawa. They are both teachers in Los Angeles and both have teenage children. Madison has a daughter, Alicia, who is a bit rebellious and a drug addict son name Nick. Travis has one son, Chris, with his ex-wife Ofelia.

As if trying to get their blended family to work out (Madison and Travis are dating – they are not married), they soon are faced with trying to survive against a deadly outbreak that is turning people into the walking dead (aka – zombies).

The series starts off giving us a bit of background as to what life was life before the outbreak. It slowly advances to a full fledged out break and the families trying to find safety in order to survive.

One top of simply trying to survive, Madison has to deal with her son Nick’s drug addiction (she needs to supply him with drugs or he’ll go through a serious withdrawal) and the animosity between her and Travis’ ex-wife. Their blended family gives the true meaning to dysfunctional.

Who will survive and who will succumb to the ravenous undead? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Fear the Walking Dead, now available where most Blu-rays/DVDs are sold.

There are only six episodes in the first season, so the run time is only about 5 hours (give or take).

There are some bonus features worth checking out including A Look At the Series and Inside the Characters of Fear The Walking Dead.

I will admit that the series did disappoint me. It’s made by the same people who bring us The Walking Dead. I expected the new series to but up to the same level. It’s not.

Fear the Walking Dead does go a bit too slow for my tastes. However towards the series end the story started to pick up a bit and there were more “walkers” reaping havoc. That is why I have not given up on this series yet. It just started to get good when the first season ended. I’m looking forward to the new season, which should be starting soon.

If you are looking for something more like the hit series, The Walking Dead, the new series has not lived up to that standard – yet. However I do appreciate some background as to how and why the undead started to roam the Earth. It’s a good starting point. And as I mentioned before, the series started to get more interesting with each passing episode.

This series is also a good “starter” if you are interested in The Walking Dead but don’t have the nerve to watch it yet. There are zombies in Fear the Walking Dead, but not nearly as many. Fear the Walking Dead focuses more on the people – not the zombies.

Have you seen Fear the Walking Dead? If so, what do you think about the series? Feel free to share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.

Still looking for the perfect gift?

Gift

2015 is just around the corner. Have you selected your family and desk top calendars yet?

My family has a main calendar we keep in the kitchen where we make note of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, days off and appointments. My husband has another calendar that he keeps on his desk at work to make note of projects and meetings.

Selecting the perfect calendar is no easy task. Well, as least for my husband anyway. He always looks for the “perfect” calendar. He says it’s because he has to look at it every day (almost) for an entire year, so he wants to make sure that he likes it. I can see what he means by that. I like our family’s calendar to look nice too.

I tend to go towards landscapes and cute animals. My husband likes calendars that are football related.

When it comes to shopping for calendars there is no place better to shop than Calendars.com. They have hundreds (if not more!) calendars to choose from in every shape and style imaginable. Whether you are looking for Grumpy Cat or Tractors, chances are Calendars.com has what you are looking for.

Grumpy Cat

Tractor

They also have wall mounted calendars, desk top calendars, dry erase calendars and just about any other type of calendar available. The entire site is dedicated to calendars.

On the flip side there is MORE to Calendars.com than just calendars. They also carry some fun and unique products that would make great gifts for those on your holiday shopping list.

Calendars.com carries a lot of gift options including puzzles, games, books and even gifts for dog lovers.

My family and I LOVE The Walking Dead. We have never, ever missed an episode in all the years it’s been on. We are die hard fans. If Santa wanted to bring me a gift that was related to The Walking Dead I’d be thrilled.

Calendars.com has A LOT of great gift ideas for The Walking Dead fan in your life. Judging by how incredibly popular the show is I’m sure most people know of at least one fan of the show.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how many Walking Dead items Calendars.com offers.

The Walking Dead gifts

I have not one but TWO sets of The Walking Dead playing cards. They came together as a set from Calendars.com.

The cards came inside a collectible Walking Dead tin featuring fan favorite Daryl and his brother Merle on the cover. The cards currently available on Calendars.com are sold individually – not as a set. One set features Daryl and the other set features Merle on the cover.

Each deck of cards is a bit different. The deck with Merle has different zombies for each suite of cards. For the Daryl set some cards feature Daryl, other Merle and the rest are just a generic background (the words look like they were written in blood). Both sets are super creepy and would certainly thrill any Walking Dead fan.

The cards are only $3.99 per set. These would make great stocking stuffers.

Personally I think it’s great to keep a deck of cards on hand, especially if there is a chance of a power outage. You and your family can always play a game of cards or two to pass the time away (or build card houses).

Cards

A game of poker and “Go Fish” will never be the same again with these cards. LOL!

Calendars can also make a great gift. It might not be something on people’s wish lists, but they are practical and can be put to get use. Another words they won’t collect dust under the bed or in the closet.

For the football fan in your life I would recommend the Finger League Football 2015 Desk Calendar. Not only is it a calendar (a practical gift) it’s also a “toy”. It comes with a small goal post and finger football so your football fan can “kick” the winning field goal. The calendar also features fun football trivia.

My husband is going to love this! I only took it out of the box for a bit to check it out. Then I carefully put it back together so that I can wrap it and put it under the tree for my hubby. He’s going to have fun with this at work.

If you are still looking for the ideal gift for someone on your holiday shopping list you should check out what Calendars.com has to offer. Best of all the products they sell on their site are all budget friendly.

Calendars.com can also be found on social media (all the links are found on the bottom of their website).

Have you visited Calendars.com before? Have you ever shopped there?

Zombies!!!

f439_zombie_garden_gnomes_inuse

I love zombies. Well… if I ever met one I doubt I’d love it. Chances are I’d be lunch meat for it. I don’t run very fast. What I mean to say is that I have been into zombies long before it was the “in” thing.

I first started to think zombies were really cool back in the late 1970’s (1978 to be exact) when I saw Dawn of the Dead (the original, not the remake). The movie scared the heebie jeebies out of me – but – I thought it was so cool. Gross… but cool.

Back in high school me and my girlfriends were known by friends of ours as the “Dawn of the Dead Girls”. It was a nickname given to us by a heavy metal band we were friends with. They came over to my house once to watch the movie with all of us and some how that became our nickname. Thirty plus years later and we’re still friends and the nickname has stuck.

These days everyone is into zombies thanks to the huge success of The Walking Dead. Suddenly everyone is into zombies – young and old alike. Zombies are not longer feared, per say, as they are fun to watch. Still gross – just not as scary.

I have The Walking Dead bobbleheads. In fact I just received Michonne today for Christmas. Now I have to get the Zombie bobblehead to add to my collection.

I have started to collect some fun and whimsical zombie things. One of my favorite pieces if my Zombie Garden Gnome from ThinkGeek.com.

If you haven’t heard of Think Geek before, and you love fun and quirky things, you must check the site out. Think Geek is one of my favorite sites. I check it often to see what new goodies they add. I have also purchased several items from them over the past few years.

Think Geek as a few Zombie Garden Gnome styles to choose from. I was going to buy all of them and put them around our house when we were going to move. Some day if we ever win Lotto and can buy a house I’m still going to decorate my yard and garden with Zombie Garden Gnomes. I like to be different and unique. Although I think most garden gnomes are cute, I rather have ones that reflect my style and personality more.

Technically it’s really three Zombie Garden Gnomes and one who is more like Tony Montana from the film Scarface.

f439_zombie_garden_gnomes f439_zombie_garden_gnomes_rising_evilI have the Zombie Garden Gnome with the hand reaching out. I also want to get the one dressed in blue with a red hat. He’s the next one I want to get.

Here is my Zombie Garden Gnome along with Rick and Daryl from The Walking Dead. They are trying to protect me from him. 🙂

Zombie Garden Gnome

As you can see the gnome is fairly large. He’s heavy but not too heavy. He would be able to withstand a good amount of wind. He’s also very well made and should be able to lurk around your garden or yard for many years to come.

Think Geek has a lot of other fun zombie goodies to choose from.

Think Geek has plenty of other cool toys, gadgets and décor that is non-zombie related too.

There is a reason why the site is called Think “GEEK” – because the things they sell usually appeal to “geeky” people. I’m a big geek so I love the products they sell. They have Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, LEGO, Hunger Games and Big Bang Theory goodies, not name a few.

To check out the fun items they sell visit www.ThinkGeek.com. The company can also be found on the various social media sites (scroll to the bottom of their site for all the links).

Have you ever shopped at Think Geek before? What do you think about the Zombie Garden Gnomes? Would you decorate your yard with them?

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you know that I love the show The Walking Dead. If you haven’t seen it you must check it out when it returns next month. Some people assume it’s just a zombie gore-fest but that is not the case at all. The show is not about the zombies as much as it is about the survivors. It’s hard not to get invested into their lives and hope that they can some how survive and carry on.

I even have The Walking Dead theme as my cellphone ring tone. 🙂

If you are a fan of the series, did you know you can find some great Walking Dead shirts over at CafePress? Not only that, if you are really into the whole Zombie thing (Vampires are so yesterday) you’ll be happy to know that CafePress has A LOT (and I do mean A LOT) of cool Zombie related shirts, bags, iPhone cases and more.

I know it sounds weird, but I would love to get this cellphone case for my iPhone. This one is for the iPhone 4. I know CafePress carries the iPhone 5 case too, I’m just not sure what designs.

Zombie Response Team iPhone Case Cafe Press

I travel from time to time for press events. If you travel by plane you know that going through the TSA check points can be a long, boring process. That is why I would love to get this bag from CafePress. I think it might generate a few raised eyebrows and perhaps a few chuckles from those waiting in line with me.

Zombie Outbreak Response Team Bag from Cafe Press

Don’t think that CafePress is just about Zombie stuff. No way! CafePress has a lot of personalized gifts including teddy bears, mugs, buttons, bumper stickers, magnets, clothing and more. They have items from today’s popular shows like Once Upon a Time (another show I love to watch), Big Bang Theory, Revenge and Castle. They also have fun stuff for popular characters and movies like Ted, Star Trek, Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, The Hangover… the list goes on and on!

With CafePress you have the ability to purchase pre-made designs, or design your own personalized products. Say for example you are a blogger (they have some fun blogger/blog/blogging items too!) and you want a shirt made up with your logo. You could easily do that with CafePress. Simply upload your logo, pick out the product/products you want the logo on and make your purchase. I am thinking about doing that for my own blog.

Personalized products such as clothing, hats, mugs and calendars are a great way to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding, graduation or birthday. Personally I would love to get t-shirts made up for my family’s next family reunion. We had one two years ago in Pennsylvania and it was AWESOME! Some of my relatives I haven’t seen in almost a decade so it was wonderful to see everyone. The next time we get together I want to get t-shirts made up with Jones Family Reunion (Jones is our family name). Maybe something else everyone can have as a keepsake, like a key chain.

Do you like those hilarious Someecards? CafePress has some funny Someeecards products too.

I thought about getting this magnet for my hubby (inside joke).

Someecard

Someecards always make me chuckle.
