Available TODAY on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download is the high-octane, action packed thrilled White House Down. The film stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Wood and Joey King.
I saw the trailer for this film many months ago with my husband when we were at the movie theater. When the trailer was over we turned and looked at each other and said “YES!” We both knew that we wanted to see this film when it was available. Sadly we were not able to see it when it was in theaters but I did receive a free screener copy to review. I’m so glad I did. This film was awesome!
Channing Tatum stars as John Cale (or Cale as he’s called throughout the film). He is a US Capital Police Officer assigned to the Speaker of the House. He doesn’t really have much experience. He got the job because he saved the Speaker’s nephew in Afghanistan.
Cale is struggling to win over his estranged daughter Emily. She is really into politics and considers the President (Jamie Foxx) as her hero.
In effort to win her over Cale applies for a job with the Secret Service to protect the President. His application was shot down because Cale was seen as someone with little experience and no follow through.
While he was at the White House for the interview Cale took Emily on the White House tour. When Emily asked her dad how the interview went he lied to her and said it went well.
Unbeknown to Cale and the staff of the White House, terrorists had made their way into the White House in attempt to take it over and capture the President.
While on the tour Emily had to use the restroom. While she was out of the room with the rest of the tour group the terrorists burst in and took the tourists hostage. Cale refused to be separated from his daughter and risk his life to escape the terrorists and find his daughter.
While searching for his daughter Cale finds the President and is able to help him escape from the terrorists.
Soon it’s a race against time. Cale needs to find a way to get the President to safety as well as find his daughter who is some where in the White House. The entire situation is a “ticking time bomb” waiting to explode.
Will Cale find his daughter in time? Will he be able to rescue the President? To find out you need to pick up a copy of White House Down, now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.
This movie was awesome! It was like a non-stop roller coaster ride. Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen the story takes on a whole new direction. It’s literally a non-stop thrill ride.
I like Channing Tatum. Yeah, he’s hot, but I also like him as an actor. I like that he’s able to play comedic roles to dramatic roles seamlessly. I was also impressed to learn that he did almost all his own stunts (except for one scene where he falls through the garden roof). I learned that from one of the bonus features.
Joey King did an amazing job. I am positive you are going to be seeing a lot more from this young lady. She was certainly very much the star of this film along side Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
Jamie Fox played a “cool” kind of President. For example, he changed out of his dress shoes into Jordan sneakers to escape the bad guys. He was also able to transisition from serious to humor with ease.
Tatum and Foxx also have great chemistry, both on screen and off (see the bonus features). They make a great action/comedy team.
There are a few bonus features on the DVD. I would recommend checking them out because they provide you with some great insight from behind the scenes. Its also fun to see what the stage looks like that the worked on. You would think they were fighting on a roof top when the reality is it was just a stage. I find that sort of stuff fascinating.
Look for White House Down where ever films are sold.

I watched this movie just recently and it was pretty good. Lots of good action and you can always rely on Jamie Fox to add some humor to things!
