Anyone who knows me personally knows how much I LOVE the AMC’s The Walking Dead. I have been a huge fan since day one. I have NEVER missed an episode – ever. And I’ve seen each episode numerous times. Every time they do marathons of the series my husband and I usually always watch them.
My desk has several TWD figurines/toys on it. I even have Daryl’s “ear necklace” hanging up in my car (real fans will know what I’m talking about), “Lucille” on our television stand and Michonne’s Katana in my bedroom closet (a gift for my hubby).
With each passing season The Walking Dead gets more and more intense and complex.
With season six it’s not the “walkers” the group has to fear – it’s other humans.
Admittedly I started watching the series to see all the zombies, but now that we have invited these characters into our living room week after week we are more interested in the people – more so than the zombies.
Season six probably has the most talked about season cliffhanger than any other season of the series. The season ended months ago and people are STILL talking about it and their theories about who Negan killed with his barb wired covered bat he named “Lucille.”
Personally I’m hoping its NOT a man character. I’d be OK with Eugene, Abraham, Aaron and/or Rosita. Please DON’T let it be Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Shasha, Michonne or Carl. We know it’s not Rick since he’s the central character in the series.
I have seen every episode of the season, but I wanted a copy of the series for the bonus features. I have seasons 1-5 already in our collection and I always find that the bonus features are well worth owning the season on Blu-ray/DVD. Season Six is no exception.
I won’t give away the story lines of Season Six in case some readers missed a few episodes. I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I will say that this season is VERY intense and you have to see very episode.
The Blu-ray set for Season Six has many “must see” bonus features.
First and foremost there is a lot of audio commentary. If you read any of my Blu-ray/DVD reviews you’ll know that I am NOT a fan of audio commentary. I skip over those types of bonus features. However I make allowances for the audio commentary with The Walking Dead Blu-rays/DVDs because I really want to know every tiny detail about what goes on behind the scenes.
Season Six has audio commentary from Writer & Executive Producer Scott Gimple, Executive Producer/Special Effects Make Up Artist Greg Nicotero and cast members including Norma Redus (Daryl), Lennie James (Morgan), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Melissa McBride (Carol), Steven Yeun (Glenn), and Alanna Masterson (Tara). A lot of the commetary is about specific episodes.
I love that this collection features little nuggets of the making of the episodes, giving viewers a fantastic behind the scenes look at each episode. This is one of my favorite features. It gives me more of an appreciation for what goes on to bring this incredible series to the screen week after week.
The memoriam featurette highlights some of the characters that were killed off this season.
I also really liked the feature entitled Negan: Someone to Fear. Oh my goodness!!! He’s really going to be a strong force to contend with. I cannot fathom how our beloved group of survivors are going to get out from under Negan without him killing off more group members.
The Face of Death: Iconic Walkers of the Season is another interesting bonus feature. It shows how the walking dead have changed (appearances) this season. How they produce the make-up and prosthetics to make the dead look so realistic is so cool!
There are a few other features, including deleted scenes.
If you pick up a copy of Season Six you really should set aside an evening just to view the bonus features. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. They are well worth every minute of them.
Season Six is not a season to miss. Plus now is a great time to catch up on anything you missed before the new season starts October 23, 2016.
Look for The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season where ever Blu-rays/DVDs are sold.
Are you a fan of the series? Who is your favorite character? What did you think of Season Six?
Most importantly… who do you think Negan kills?
