The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.
It’s been twenty seven years since David Fincher’s movie masterpiece hit theaters. Now the popular film is available in stunning 4K digital. Forget the grainy DVD version from the early 2000’s. Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) never looked more dangerously clear.
If you have never seen the cult classic, here is a brief synopsis of the film.
An insomniac office worker, fed up with his empty, consumerist life, crosses paths with a charismatic soap salesman named Tyler Durden. Together, they form an underground “fight club” where men trade punches to escape their mundane reality.
The movement quickly spirals from a local secret into a dangerous, cult-like anarchist organization called Project Mayhem. As Tyler’s influence grows and his plans for domestic terrorism escalate, the Narrator is forced to confront the dark truth behind Tyler’s identity and his own crumbling grip on reality. It’s a gritty, mind-bending look at identity and the lengths people go to to feel alive.
The film has an all star cast including Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, Jared Leto, and Meatloaf, to name a few.
Fight Club is one of the most talked about film’s of the 1990’s. It went from a commercial disappointment to a cult classic.
Because the film is about things such as consumerism, rebellion against modern life and identity, it’s is still relevant today.
I have not seen this film in about 20 years, give or take. There was a lot about the film I honestly didn’t remember. I remembered only bits and pieces. I think I blocked some of it out of my mind because I don’t like to see brutal fighting on film. I can watch a zombie devour a brain, or a monster tear apart a human body, but overly realistic fighting such as what is scene in Fight Club I find bothersome.

This is the old grainy quality look of the film.
The quality of the film is much more true to life. The 4K version is crystal clear and sharp. The colors are vibrant. It’s hard to believe this movie was made almost 30 years ago.
There is plenty of bonus content available with the updated version, most of which will most likely excite a true fan of the film.
