5 Ways to Step Up Your Self-Care Game in the New Year

 

Are you ready to start the new year glamorous and beautiful? Well, you’ve already done that gorgeous! But maybe you still want to invest more time in yourself for the new year.

The New Year is the perfect opportunity to make new goals and set aside plenty of alone time for yourself. However, solo time looks different to everyone. If you don’t know where to start, here are 5 tips for upping your self-care game in 2020.

1. Korean Skincare

Skincare is the top way to ease into self-care. A lot of people worry about their skin without knowing how to solve their issues. That’s where Korean skincare comes in. No other country has as extensive an array of skin products as South Korea.

You can chose from:

  • Face masks
  • Emulsifiers
  • Toners
  • Lotions
  • Jelly cleansers
  • Foam cleansers

The list is endless.

There’s a 5-step, 7-step, and 10-step Korean skincare program depending on the type of skin you have. Regardless of how many steps you take nothing says self-love like a good skincare routine.

2. Essential Oils 

Imagine a concentrated oil of your favorite smell that you can use on your clothes, in your house, or wherever you’d like. That’s what essential oils are. They come in a plethora of scents and combinations. You can get orange peel, chamomile, and rose for more natural scents. There are also candy apple, beer, and cognac essential oils if you want something unique.

A huge part of self-care is taking baths, soaking your feet, and wearing hair masks. Nothing steps up your soak game like essential oils. You’ll smell like your favorite scent for the next few days after taking a bath.

3. Laser Hair Removal

Everyone has undesirable hair on their body somewhere. Whether it’s on your legs, face, or armpits: hair grows. But you don’t need to deal with it if you don’t like it. Stray hairs are one of the causes of self-esteem issues in many people.

Doing laser hair removal at home is a simple way to take time for yourself. If you want, you can make a whole self-care day out of it.

4. Spa Days at Home

Is there anything better than a luxurious spa trip? Try to plan at least two days a month for a self-care spa day. It might seem expensive, but you won’t regret it after each visit.

You could also plan two self-care days at home if you’re on a budget. Spend the day relaxing in the bath or soaking your feet. Watch your favorite movies, TV, or dramas. Eat plenty of snacks and stay hydrated. Make the day all about yourself.

5. Yoga | Pilates | Stretching

Getting in touch with your body is a crucial step towards loving yourself. We cannot thrive if we ignore our bodies. If we ignore our need to eat, drink, or sleep, we become irritated, desperate, and exhausted. If we ignore our body wanting to be active, we become vegetative. Our body starts to develop a stiffness from hours of stationary activity.

That’s why these treatments are blessings for the body, mind, and spirit:

  • Doing yoga combines a physical and mental concentration that connects your body and your mind.
  • If you’re looking for something more physically focused, Pilates is a good alternative.
  • If you want something simple but still effective, stretching daily makes a world of difference.
