I really like Facebook. I think it’s a great way to stay connected with family and friends across the country and around the world (I have plenty of cousins in the United Kingdom). It’s also a great way to network with others and keep up with your favorite brands, actors, musicians and TV shows.
Some people love to play the various games available on Facebook. To date I haven’t really been interested in them. One of the Facebook games I have on the iPad and I rarely ever play it. Some of my Facebook friends and family are really addicted to playing the online Facebook games.
There is one Facebook game that is not only fun but also challenges you to do good deeds and practice random acts of kindness. I am a firm believer in random acts of kindess and I try to “commit” one (or more) at least once a day. I try and encourage my children to practice random acts of kindness too.
The Facebook game is called A Better World by a company called ToonUps. It’s a game that encourages REAL WORLD acts of kindness and expression of gratitude. To date there are already 120,000 players enrolled in the game. Wow! That is a lot of people. It is also very popular with women.
A Better World takes casual gaming to a whole new level. The activities are designed to help players feel better about themselves, be supportive of others and make positive choices in their everyday lives.
A Better World also offers players a variety of “mini” games with a special inspirational theme. I love the Whack a Thought game. It’s just like the Whack a Mole you play at the county fair.
Like other online games, players can create their own virtual character to play with. You can customize every aspect of your character. You also get a virtual home that you can design and decorate as you see fit. My daughter plays this game and she loves that your character gets to go clothes shopping. It figures that a teen would like that specific aspect of the game. LOL! She spends all her bonuses purchasing more clothes for her virtual character. Her home is practically empty. You can even care for virtual pets on A Better World too.
A Better World offers more then 15 different locations for players to explore including…
– Department of Do Good– A place you can share real world good deeds you’ve performed and see what other members of the community have done.
– Gratitude Grotto – A charming area where you can reveal what you are thankful for and express your support for messages left by others.
– Sanctuary of Hope – A building where you can communicate your hopes and dreams and send encouragement to other players.
– Arcade – A play area with uplifting mini-games to enjoy alone or with friends.
– Better Pets Pet Shop – Filled with adorable puppies, cute kittens or even a magical unicorn.
A Better World was created by ToonUps, a digital entertainment company that has focused on developing digital content that encourages a positive outlook and altruistic behavior for more than a decade. ToonUps hopes A Better World’s original approach could usher in a new genre of “do good gaming.” Research shows that being encouraged to think about things they are thankful for and doing activities that provide encouragement to others improves their mental, emotional and spiritual well being.

Here is a brief video about the game.
The game is just like it is in the video too. It’s pretty cool.
A Better World is a fun, relaxing game that you can play online at any time. You don’t have to worry about being in a competition with other people. You can play at your leisure and at your own pace. It’s my kind of game. I also think it’s a great game for teens. You don’t have to worry about violence, scary monsters or inappropriate content. It’s a wholesome, family orientated game that they whole family can enjoy. That fact that it encourages teens to do good and be kind to others makes it a game parents can be happy about their child playing.
