I miss having a little girl. My daughter is 15 1/2 now and talks non-stop about getting a job, a car and her aspirations when she graduates from high school. She used to talk non-stop about her baby dolls and Teletubbies (remember them?). Sigh…
I think at one point in every little girl’s life she aspires to be a princess, ballerina or even a magical fairy like Tinker Bell. Little girls dream wearing a tiara, wearing a tutu and fluttering around the home spreading magic pixie dust. 🙂 Well, not every little girl. I was a “Tom boy” growing up. I was too busy playing with my G.I. Joe doll and Tonka trucks (no kidding).
With the holiday season coming I’m sure you want to get a wonderful gift for the special little girl in your life, whether it’s your daughter, granddaughter, niece or Goddaughter.
A fun gift would be a tutu. Even if your little girl doesn’t take ballet, tutus can spark their imagination and transform them into a princess or fairy too.
I received a beautifully well made tutu from Tutu Girl a while back to review. It was the same time that the newest Disney Fairies movie came out too (The Secret of the Wings). The tutu I received was green. I couldn’t help but think that a little green tutu from Tutu Girl would be a cute gift to go along with any Disney Fairies or Tinker Bell gifts (like a wand and wings).
My daughter has had tutus over the years and I have to say that none of them match the quality of the tutu I received from Tutu Girl. Other tutus we’ve had tore easily and the elastic around the waist would give out after only a few pretend dress ups. Not only that, other tutus we’ve had over the years were “flat” and not “puffy” like they should be.
The first thing I noticed about the tutu from Tutu Girl is how thick and puffy it is, just like a real tutu ballerinas would wear. It’s REALLY thick and puffy, just like it SHOULD be.
Another thing I noticed was the elastic band in the middle. Not only is the elastic thicker then others I have seen, but the tulle used to make the tutu is carefully and meticulously sewn around the elastic. It would appear to me that this elastic would stand up to many hours of dress up play time.
I tried to capture a few photos of how thick the tutu is but nothing came out better then the first picture I used of the tutu in the post.
Tutu Girl carries many more color options, even tutus with multiple colors, for babies all the way up to little girls. The tutu I received was given to our 5 year old neighbor (well, she turns 5 this weekend) and it fits her great. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of her in the tutu but her mom was not keen on the idea of me sharing a photo of her daughter online, which I can totally respect.
Tutu Girl also offers an array of different tutu styles, from Prissy to Prima, as well as tutus for photos and portraits. You can use these tutus professionally for dance, or just for fun (dress up).
You can even design your own tutu. I haven’t tried that feature but I suppose it would be great if you have some thing specific in mind.
Tutu prices vary depending on size, color and style. I see some adorable baby and toddler tutu sets for around $29.99 with the more elaborate tutus going for upwards of $79.99. It would appear to me that they have tutus to fit just about any budget.
Not only does Tutu Girl carry tutus, they also carry leg warmers, shirts, headbands and the most adorable onesie tutus and diaper cover tutus. And for you dog lovers out there they even carry DOG TUTUS! LOL!
I should mention that the tutus also come in varying lengths, so if you need something longer, like a skirt or dress length, they can also create a tutu for you. The longer ones are great for photos and even as flower girl dresses at weddings.
Normal ship time is two weeks. That is because each item is handmade to order in a first come, first serve basis. They also do not work or ship during major holidays. Since this is a very busy time you should get your order request in ASAP to ensure delivery in time for the holiday.

What little girl would not like a tutu to bring her imagination to life. I love the idea of designing your own tutu and that the tutu is of handmade quality. What a great gift idea.
