I have been a fan of foreign skincare products for a few years now. Many of the products I use on a daily basis are from brands that come out of Korea and Japan.
I saw a lot of social media posts about Asian skincare products. I took a chance and purchased some and ever since then I have been “hooked.”
The reason why I appreciate Asian brands of beauty products is because I appreciate the more natural ingredients and innovative products.
I always enjoy reviewing beauty products, so when I was asked if I wanted to try a product from the Korean brand OLIVIAUMMA, I jumped at the opportunity.
OLIVIAUMMA translates directly to Olivia’s mom and the namesake for the brand is exactly that eponymous. Hye Young Kim set out on a mission to create a collection of cross-generational skin care that could be used by people of all ages. The aim was to use vegan ingredients and the knowledge of top scientists to create a range that while focused on individual concerns–we know all skin isn’t made the same–would still be healthy for all ages. No person too young or old should have to miss out on glass skin effects because of an ingredient profile. This was conceptualized for all of mankind.
I was sent the brand’s Glass Skin Tanghulu Serum, specifically the brand’s Strawberry and Tangerine serum. FYI… it does not smell like strawberries or tangerines (I honestly thought it would). It does have a very light, pleasant scent.
If you are not familiar with what Tanghulu is it is a traditional Chinese snack that consists of fruit on a skewer that is coated in hardened sugar. It gives you the crunch of the hard shell and the sweet, juicy fruit inside. I have personally never tried it, but I have seen recipes for it on social media. One day I’ll get to making it myself.
OLIVIAUMMA Glass Skin Tanghulu Serum, according to the brand, is a multi-vitamin serum that acts like a toner. It contains vitamin A, B, C, E and Niacinamide, which acts like a “vitamin water” to even out skin tone, brighten and revitalize your skin.
The serum is easy to use. Simply apply it after you wash your face, ideally in the AM and PM. A little bit goes a long way too.
The serum is not a liquid. It’s a bit thicker than that. I wouldn’t use the term “gel” but it’s a similar consistency. It’s not sticky, and it absorbs quickly.
I have been using this serum for a few weeks. I used it twice a day as recommended.
I have found that my skin feels really soft right after use. It feels hydrated too. I honestly feel like I don’t need to add any additional product after I apply this serum, but I do use a sunscreen in the AM, and I use a little more moisturizer in the PM on places that seem to get a bit dry this time of year (winter months). I do think the serum is sufficient, but I add a dab of moisturizer here and there for excessively dry spots.
I sometimes have sensitive skin. I say “sometimes” because occasionally products bother my skin (I avoid using them if that happens). This product didn’t bother my skin at all.
I love that this serum has vitamins C and E. This saves me the step of having to apply those vitamins separately. I was using products with both products in both the morning and evening. I rather have one product that can do it all, like OLIVIAUMMA Glass Skin Tanghulu Serum.
I’m not always a great judge of things, but I feel like my skin looks a bit more “youthful” since using the product. My complexion looks a bit brighter and not “drab” like it normally does.
Your skin won’t look like “glass” when you use this product. By “glass” it means more so giving you a smooth, luminous, and nearly poreless complexion by deeply moisturizing and improving your skin’s texture.
I have been very pleased with this product, and it’s only been a few weeks of use. I know that not everyone’s skin is the same, but for me, I love this product.
I receive a lot of beauty products to review. Some products because favorites of mine that I end up becoming a customer. I truly believe I will purchase this product once my bottle is empty.

Have you ever tried any Korean or Asian beauty products? Do you have a favorite? Feel free to comment and tell me more about it.
