Beauty products have come a long way since I was younger. It seemed like beauty products were more simple back then. These days science plays a bit part in how beauty products are formulated. They are so much more than a simple beauty product.
One of the perks of being a blogger is having the opportunity to learn about new brand and products, as well as the chance to try out some products I might not otherwise get the chance to learn about. One such product is NAD+ Gold™.
As per the brand;
Achieve your genetic potential with an NAD+ longevity supplement: As we age, research shows that we continuously lose molecules called NAD+, which are critical to maintaining energy production, DNA repair and cell vitality. Enter Quicksilver Scientific’s latest breakthrough product, NAD+ Gold™ one of the most powerful, yet simple longevity products on the market designed to produce more NAD+ via liposomal delivery. This promotes healthy aging, cognition and metabolism. You can’t prevent aging, but according to Quicksilver Scientific, you can change the way you age in 2020.
This video from Quicksliver Scientific, goes into the science behind this product.
It sounded interesting, so I thought I would give it a try and do a review.
This product arrives with an ice pack. Upon recieving the product, you need to put it in the fridge. It’s OK if it arrives to you not cold. It’s OK to be at room temperature for 5-7 days (as per the brand’s website).
I thought it was interesting that it had to be kept cold.
I thought this was a beauty product that you put on your skin. Nope! It’s a beauty/health product that you ingest.
To use NAD+ Gold, put two pumps of the product in your mouth and leave it there for 30 seconds before swallowing. It does not say it on the directions, but I think you should pump it under your tongue (sublingual). I take other vitamins (B12) that I need to dissolve under my tongue so that I can absorb it better. When using this product, I pump it under my tongue and leave it there for 30 seconds before swallowing.
I’m not keen on the taste, but you put so little in your mouth that it’s not a big deal.
Ideally, you should take NAD+Gold 10 minutes before you eat. I take it in the morning before I drink my coffee (I don’t eat breakfast right away). When I get up I have things to do before I sit down for my coffee (litter boxes, feed the cats…), so waiting 10 minutes is not a big deal for me.
It doesn’t specify what time of day you should take the product. You could take it before lunch or dinner if that is more convenient for you.
Because the product has to be kept cold, it’s not ideal for traveling. But you do have 90 days after you open it before it’s not viable anymore.
I have been using this product for a few weeks. There are some days that I didn’t use it (I forgot to take it).
I honestly cannot tell you how the product is effecting me from a molecular level. I’m not a scientist, nor a doctor. I have no way of testing how the product is working. As per the brand it may take a few weeks to really notice the effects, and this will vary from person to person. It should increase energy levels, exercise capacity and support the health and youth of your cells – which will be more of a subtle effect over time.
If you want to see if it’s working for you, you could take baseline lipid profile or blood sugar markers like fasting glucose, A1C, and retest after 6 weeks. There are probably mitochondrial function tests you could take as well.
NAD+Gold is suppose to help with;
- Boost endurance and stamina
- Increase blood flow
- Sharpen memory and focus
- Promote a more youthful metabolism
As far as endurance and stamina, I have not been feeling well for a long time. I have been dealing with tendinitis in my shoulder. So I have been taking things slow and easy so as not to aggravate my shoulder. I also take medication for nephropathy that totally zaps me of energy. For these reasons, I don’t want to say that NAD+Gold doesn’t help with endurance and stamina, only because I have contributing factors that could effect that.
Increased blood flow and a youthful metabolism are not factors I can comment on because I have no way of telling if this product has effected these areas.
As I get older, I worry A LOT about memory loss. I also suffer from focus issues (which is why it’s taking me forever to do an online course). Again, I don’t know if medication has an effect on that. I take Gabapentin and Lyrica, both of which can effect your focus.
I look at it this way, if the product does what it says it’s suppose to do, I’m all for it. I want to look and feel healthy.
The brand can also be found on social media. Their links are fond on their website.
