Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love getting together with family and friends, cookies, candy canes, the decorations, Christmas tree, the music… the list goes on. I think many people who celebrate will agree with me. Christmas can be magical. It’s the kind of magic I wish could continue year round.
The time after Christmas is a bit of a “let down.” It starts with getting decorated for Halloween (another favorite holiday), celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas then New Years… then what? It seems like the months that follow are not only lacking major holidays (except Easter), it’s just not a magical time.
What if you could have a bit of holiday magic in your home year round? You can with Old World Christmas ornaments.
Old World Christmas ornaments are hand-crafted, glass-blown, decorations. Old World Christmas ornaments are a premiere brand of glass ornaments. Their beautiful ornaments are the perfect accessory for tablescapes, front door wreaths, or even gift baskets. These ornaments are so pretty that you’ll want to show them off year round, just not on the family tree.
I know what some people must be thinking – Why would I want to display ornaments outside of the holiday season? That’s a valid question, but Old World Christmas ornaments are not your typical holiday decoration. They have ornaments that can be displayed and enjoyed year round, or at certain times of the year other than Christmas.
I have heard of people who have trees up year round that they decorate depending on the holiday and season. Thee is even a place that sells ONLY Halloween decorations for year-round trees.
Ornaments are not just for trees. As mentioned earlier in this post, you can use them as part of a tablescape, add them to wreaths, or you can find other places around your home to hang and display them.
I have ornaments on my desk. They hang from the light that goes over my computer screen. I look at them every day that I use my computer.
Here are some examples of the kinds of ornaments you’ll find at Old World Christmas ornaments;.

Of course they have Christmas ornaments. They even have a Santa with mask. Ha Ha.
I’ve been all over the Old World Christmas website, and I’ve literally found about a dozen (or more!) ornaments that I would love to own. My favorite ones are the animal ones, especially the ones from the Vintage Woodland section. I also love the food ornaments. Hot wings with dip, a bottle of Ranch dressing, a burrito, mac and cheese and a bowl of Ramen. These are just too much fun!
Old World Christmas was kind enough to send me a couple of ornaments to check out for myself. I was sent to review a couple of ornaments from their Spring & Garden section. I was sent to review their Monarch Butterfly ornament and their darling Honey Bee.
My pictures do NOT do these ornaments justice. Both of them have a bit of sparkle to them, which is really nice.
Monarch Butterfly ($22.99)
I love butterflies. I think they are so whimsical and darling. I especially love Monarch Butterflies. When I think of butterflies, it’s the Monarch that comes to mind first and foremost.
Did you know that Monarch migrate from the south (central Mexico) to other parts of North America, some traveling as far as 3,000 miles? They can travel 100 miles per day. That is crazy! They are so tiny, I can’t imagine them flying 100 miles per day. I get winded just walking up a flight of steps (ha ha).
This ornament is stunning. They truly captured the beauty and elegance of these remarkable creatures. Any butterfly fan would adore this ornament. The colors are so true-to-life. The ornament is almost the same size as a Monarch too (the ornament is larger of course).
As a lover of butterflies, especially the amazing Monarch, I LOVE this ornament.
Honey Bee ($14.99)
I have been concerned about the honey bee population for years. Their numbers have been dwindling rapidly, and that is a major concern. Bees help pollinate food producing crops, as well as wild flowers and plants, which are food for other creatures, like birds. Bees are extremely important commercially for farming practices worldwide. The world owes the bees for much of the food that we consume.
I am trying to support the bees and bring awareness to this important issue. That is why I chose the honey bee as one of the ornaments to review from Old World Christmas.
This beautiful ornament is so detailed. They truly captured the likeness of a bee, without the fear of being stung. It’s stunning! Sadly, my ornament met with an untimely demise. When I was taking off the hang tag, it slipped from my hand and before I could grab it, it hit the table and broke. I’m heartbroken! I was hoping to hang it up by my desk.
These ornaments are exceptionally well made. I was concerned that they would be too fragile, and that I’d be afraid to handle them. That is not the case at all. They are fragile, so great care has to be taken with them (as it would with any hand blown ornament), but they are very well made. I was worried that they would feel paper thin, but they are not. They are much thicker than that.
Since they are handmade, there might be slight variations. That is what makes them so beautiful and unique.
I was surprised at how affordable they are. I would have thought these ornaments would sell for double what they sell for on their website.
These ornaments would make great gifts. They have plenty of ornaments to commemorate special times in our lives, such as marriage, the birth of a baby, and an anniversary. In fact, I have my eye on their 25th Anniversary ornament. My husband and I will be celebrating out 25th wedding anniversary this October.
The ornaments come packaged in their own box with classic holiday illustrations on them. I love the boxes! Even though my ornament are hanging up, I am keeping the boxes to house other holiday ornaments when we bring up our holiday decorations in just a few short months (November – usually around Thanksgiving).
