I am NOT a morning person at all. Even if I somehow manage to get a decent night’s sleep I still am not a morning person.
I think the cruelest sound in the world is the sound of an alarm clock first thing in the morning. I hate it! I just want to rip the alarm clock out of the wall and toss it across the room.
Thankfully, not all alarm clocks are made the same. Some are a bit nicer to wake up to in the morning (they don’t sound as annoying).
The brand Big Red Rooster has THE COOLEST alarm clock I have ever come across. Even though it’s made for children my husband and I really enjoy it too.
The Rocket Ship Projection Alarm Clock from Big Red Rooster was designed by Brian Johnson. He purposely designed the alarm clock for both children and parents to enjoy.
The Rocket Ship Projection Alarm Clock, as you probably guessed, looks exactly like a little rocket ship. This is sure to please fans of astronomy or children who dream of being an astronaut.
Check out this brief video about the alarm clock.
The clock its self is easy to set up – even a child can easily set the alarm. There is even an AM/PM indicator to make sure your child sets the clock for the correct time.
A great feature is that there is no snooze option, so children will have to get up when the alarm goes off. They can’t just slap the snooze button to sleep a little longer.
The time can be seen on the rocket ship. It can also be projected on the wall or ceiling. The top of the rocket ship swivels and pivots so you can project the time where ever you want.
My most favorite feature of this alarm clock is that it come pre-loaded with four images that can be projected on to the wall or ceiling. The images include an astronaut on the moon, a rocket ship taking off, the moon and Earth. The images are what my husband and I enjoy the most about this clock. We like to project the moon or Earth (usually the moon) on to the ceiling at night when we are going to bed. Where we project it makes it seem like the moon is right over our head at night. It’s so cool to look at! It’s the actual moon and Earth – not a drawing. I find it so relaxing to look at.
I tell my husband we should get those glow in the dark star stickers and put them on the ceiling to go along with the moon and Earth images. LOL!
Notice how I say my husband and I. I was going to give this clock to our son (and he does want it) but he has a perfectly good alarm clock and frankly, I enjoy looking at the moon (or Earth) at night before going to bed.
I’m sure in due time we’ll give the clock to him, but in the mean time we are having too much fun with it.
You can leave the image on all night or set the timer for 10 or 30 minutes. I usually set the timer for 30 minutes. The images also make a great night light.
In addition you can also project the time on the image as well. I opt not to do that because I don’t want to take away from the beauty of the moon or the Earth.
I tried to take a photo of the moon but it didn’t turn out so good in the dark. If you saw it in person you would be in awe of it. It’s clearer and brighter in person.
I should have taken a photo of Earth too. It’s so bright and colorful. I love it!
The clock runs on an AC adapter (plug) or 3 C size batteries. If you are going to use this daily I would recommend plugging it in. Since we like to enjoy it mostly at night for about a half hour, the C batteries work just fine for us. Plus we like to place the rocket close to the ground so it projects a larger image on the ceiling.
I like that it runs on C batteries because it makes it portable and a great back up in case the power goes out.
