Some people might think I’m a bit nutty to talk about New Year’s parties already. But when you think about it New Year’s Eve is only a couple of weeks away. Next weekend is Christmas!
My family doesn’t normally go anywhere on New Year’s Eve. My family lives upstate and we really don’t have anyone to hang out with locally. Most of the time my kids or my husband can’t make it to the strike of twelve anyway. They’re all party poopers. 🙂
I have gone to a few New Year’s Even parties in the past. They are a lot of fun. Good food, plenty of bubbly, great friends to chat with and talk about what the new year will be like and of course music. You need great movie for any kind of party whether it’s New Year’s Eve, Christmas or even an Anniversary or Birthday party. Music is as important to parties as the food and beverages that you serve.
My kids are obsessed with an online music service called Pandora. I use it too, but not as often as I should. My kids on the other hand are on it all the time. They listen to music on their iPods via Pandora. That works out great for us because they don’t come to us as much anymore asking us to buy new songs from iTunes. They are happy listening to Pandora. Best of all Pandora is FREE!
You can join Pandora and listen to music for FREE, but you will will have to contend with ads, similar to what you’d hear on the radio. The upgraded membership is only $36/per year.
On Pandora you can listen to pre-made station. Right now I’m listening to the classic Christmas music station with Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole. You can also create your own stations based upon you preferred artist and/or music.

I love that I can listen to Pandora any time from my computer and have it playing in the background while I work. I even put it on while I’m cleaning around our condo. I just crank up the volume and enjoy.
To learn more about Pandora, or to enjoy some nice FREE (100% legal) music, go to www.Pandora.com
What kind of a New Year’s Eve play list would YOU have? Would you go for Top Pop Hits, Top Adult Hits or a different category? I think I’d go Top Pop Hits, Top Adult Hits and Top Alternative Rock.

I will be sleeping during the new years. LOL. Since the kids have been born I do not stay up until midnight anymore. I’m sure when they are older I will do so again.

I love pandora on both my iPhone and Mac 🙂 My current artist lists on pandora that would have songs for NYE: Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, Drake, Tom Petty, Tori Amos
The pop hits would probably be the best for a NYE party. They’re songs almost everyone knows and can sing along to.

I didn’t know Pandora was free. I’ll have to try it out. I would probably go to the Top Pop Hits or Top Alternative Rock channel for my New Year’s Eve party.

We all shake up the music pretty much in our house. We all used to be pretty much top 40s lovers. About 7 years ago my daughter introduced us to Country…and I fought it tooth and nail. Now I like it as long as it is not twangy country my dad used to subject us NINE kids to in an old station wagon…all the way to my grandparents and back on Sunday visits. So, I have a son who likes soft rap, a daughter who loves top 40’s and a bit of country, a husband who likes a bit of all like I do, and a daughter who loves Christian Rock. So, guess what I am asking for for Christmas/Mothers Day/Bday. An itouch. I have never had a music “machine” so I think it’s time. I’d LOVE to listen to Pandora in my kitchen with a really nice dock station and not have to SHARE the air space anymore! haha.
