Summer is over. The kids are back in school. Right now your focus might be on that, or perhaps gearing up for Halloween. It might be hard to believe, but the holiday season is fast approaching too. I’m already thinking of gift ideas for my family and friends. Although shopping for adult children is not as much fun as it was when they were little. They mostly want gift cards these days. Sigh…
I’ve already been picking up some holiday decorations for our home, compliments of QVC’s Christmas in July.
I have been considering purchasing holiday decorations for my daughter this year as an early Christmas gift. She moved into her first apartment earlier this year and has been talking about how she doesn’t have any decorations.
My daughter does have a plethora of Christmas ornaments for her first tree. We’ve been collecting them for her since she was born. It was a tradition started by my mother, which carried on to my own children.
Each year we gift them a new Christmas tree ornament. The idea is that when they move out and have their own Christmas tree they’ll already have plenty of ornaments to decorate their tree with.
Many of their ornaments are more so for children, since they picked out there own ornaments for many years. Now that they are older, I want to give them ornaments made for adults – ones that they can pass along to their children some day. That is my intention with the ornaments we currently have on our tree (some are from their great-grandparents too!).
If you are looking for heirloom quality ornaments for your holiday tree, or ones you would like to give as a gift, look no further than Joy to the World Collectibles.
Joy to the World Collectibles offers beautiful, quality, handcrafter ornaments that are a work of art. They offer designs from adorable pets to your favorite college team, and from classic figures to custom designs.
Here are just a few examples.
These ornaments are made the way they used to be, prior to everything being made out of plastic.
They have a retro-appeal to them, but with modern designs.
Joy to the World Ornaments was kind enough to send me an ornament to check out for myself.
I should have taken a photo of the box is arrived in (not the shipping box, but the ornament box). The company put a lot of love and care into ensuring that my ornament arrived to me safely. The ornament was wrapped in plastic, surrounded by a lot of paper shred, in it’s own box. I didn’t keep the original box because I have a special holiday box in the basement where we keep our very special ornaments for safe keeping. It will still be very well protected, even though it’s not in it’s original box.
I chose to review the brand’s “Oh Catmus Tree 3-D,” which is new this year. This lovely tree features happy cat faces all around, as well as cat toys and fish bones, because cat’s love fish, and it makes sense that a cat would use the fish bones to decorate it’s tree. There is even a happy fish used as the “star” that goes on top of the tree.
This is a three dimensional design, meaning it features cats and cat things all around the tree, so no matter what side you are looking at you’ll be able to see that this is a tree made for cats, and full of cats.
As a “mom” to eight cats, I appreciate that there are different looking cats throughout the tree.
You can see the bright red fish topper on top as well.
The brand even added some glitter to the ornament to give it some added sparkle.
I was surprised at how bit this ornament is too. This is not a dainty little piece. You will notice it in the tree. Too bad we don’t have our tree up so I can show you a photo of what it looks like in you tree.
I was concerned that this ornament would be very fragile. I have had hand crafted ornaments made the same way in the past that broke so easily I’m not saying this one won’t break if you drop it (it will) but it’s not so fragile where you have to handle it with super soft gloves.
An ornament from Joy to the World Collectibles would make a great gift for a friend, family member, adult child, best friend and just about any one on your shopping list – except children. These are not “kid friendly.” Kids can look at them and appreciate them, I just wouldn’t give one as a gift to a child.
Of course you can always gift yourself a special ornament too.
