If you are looking for a fun movie to watch this weekend, perhaps something that is not holiday related, then check out the hit movie, Beatlejuice Beatlejuice. Some might refer to it as Beatlejuice 2 as well.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K UltraHD and digital. You can find it where ever you purchase/rent movies.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stars Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe.
This film picks up decades after the original film. Beetlejuice (Keaton) is still around in the Netherworld working in the “bio-exorcists” office along side the shrunken heat people.
Lydia (Ryder) is a widow with a teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega). She is dating a man named Rory and hosts a paranormal show. Sadly, her relationship with Astrid became strained after the death of her husband.
When Lydia’s father passes away, Lydia and Astrid travel to Winter River, to the home where Lydia used to live and first encountered Beetlejuice.
Just when Lydia thought she was done with Beetlejuice once and for all, she ends up becoming allies with him in order to save her daughter.
To find out what happens to Astrid, and what will become of Lydia and Beetlejuice, check out Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Look for it where ever movies are sold/rented.
I will admit that I am a fan of the original film. Often I watch sequels trying hard NOT to compare them to the first film in the series, or the original film (if it’s a remake). This film is a sequel.
To start with, I wasn’t too keen on the storyline. Things just seemed too over the top, even for a Beetlejuice film. Take for example Catherine O’Hara character. She has the craziest colored hair. I know she was a bit quirky in the original film, but I would have thought she would have matured with age. But that is just MY thoughts on that.
Jenna Ortega was the perfect choice for Lydia’s daughter. They look like they can be mother and daughter, and she has the same “vibe” Ryder did in the first film.
Michael Keaton played Beetlejuice to perfection, as one could expect.
The special effects in this film are amazing. Some of the characters in the Netherworld made me laugh, especially the shrunken head character of “Bob.”
This film is not meant to be taken seriously. It’s meant to be fun… a bit mindless fun to be honest. But that is okay. After a rough week at work, I needed something that was just fun to watch.
This film is rated PG-13. It IS a comedy, and the dead people are meant to be funny, but some characters and situations might be a bit scary for younger kids. Although who knows with kids these days. They are more like little adults than kids.
I’m not sure if you needed to see the original film in order to understand what is going on in this film, but it would help. If you never sawt he original Beetlejuice, don’t worry about it. You can still enjoy this film.
Overall I enjoyed this film. The original is still my favorite, but this was still a fun and entertaining movie to watch.
