It is HOT outside. Hot and humid… a combination I an not a fan of. I know that some people look forward to the summer months. Not me. I dread them. The ONLY reason I like the summer months is that I have two months off from work (I work in the school district). I spend my summer months inside with the air conditioner on puttering around my home doing the things I need to get done but I don’t normally have time to do the rest of the year (organize the closet, purge the bookcase…).
Even though I do have the opportunity to take naps and sleep in late, I don’t. I need to get things done before the start of the new year.
Admittedly, I “need” caffeine to keep me going. Without it I feel sluggish. I even get headaches if I go without caffeine for a few days.
When it’s 90+ degrees outside and 100% humidity, the last thing I want is to drink a piping hot cup of coffee. I know I could make ice coffee, but it’s not as easy. I could zip out to our local coffee shop, but I rather not go outside where it’s hot and humid to begin with.
I drink a lot of ice tea during the summer months. It’s better than a hot cup of coffee. The only probably is I get bored with ice tea.
Let me introduce you to a new beverage that is sure to become a new favorite at summer time gatherings, or simply lounging in your backyard. It’s called Brain Pop.
Brain Pop is a non-alcoholic cocktail-like beverage that is “better for you” than sugary beverages like soda, lemonade and ice tea. It’s a tasty treat for your mouth, with added “bonuses” your body needs.
Here is some information about Brain Pop
- Each 12 oz. can has a botanical caffeine blend, four amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and a hydration cocktail with Vitamin D. This product is designed with thought and care.
- Featuring fruit purées that leave a fresh burst of fruit in your mouth, purchased from a family-owned business. in the Midwest that runs with the highest trade standards in how it treats its farmers globally.
- Only 6-10g of sugar per serving, making caffeine-fueled energy rewarding and brain nutrition tasteful.
- No preservatives, sweeteners, or artificial flavors or colors.
Brain Pop was kind enough to send me some of the beverages to try out for myself.
Brain Pop is currently available in these flavors – Coconut Delight, DragonBerry Warrior, Mango Colada, and Mojito Madness.
I know that these sound like alcoholic cocktails, but they are not. There is no alcohol in them. Alcohol actually dehydrates you, not hydrate. You don’t want to purposely dehydrate yourself.
According to the brand, in each can…
- Each 12-oz can of BrainPOP contains organic can sugar( 6-8g of sugar depending on the flavor).
- Botanical Caffeine Blend: Green Tea Extract, Green Coffee Bean Extract, Guarana Seed Extract.
- Creatine & Minerals (Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Sodium)
- There are no preservatives, sweeteners, or artificial flavors or color. We use organic ingredients wherever possible.
- Vitamin D3, Vitamin C, Taurine, Choline, L-Glutamine, Theanine
I like that it uses green tea extract. I believe green tea has more caffeine that coffee (I could be wrong). Green tea also has other health benefits.
Unlike sugary sweet sodas, Brain Pop contains things you body needs such as calcium (I was surprised about that one), magnesium, Vitamin D and Vitamin C.
So… we see that Brain Pop is a “better for you option” than soda and sugary summer drinks such as lemonade and ice tea. But how does it taste?
I was expecting Brain Pop to be similar to a soda, but it’s not. There is carbonation, but it’s not carbonated like soda is. I’m happy about that because I have a Lap Band, and carbonated drinks can cause discomfort. I don’t normally drink soda because of that. Brain Pop is lightly carbonated, at least in my opinion.
The flavors taste great. They taste very fruity. Like a homemade fruit juice with a touch of carbonation, if that makes any sense? It’s a refreshing treat. A perfect summer time drink, especially when it’s ice cold.
As I am typing this (it’s 8:30 in the morning) I couldn’t stop thinking about Brain Pop, so I am drinking one right now. I don’t see this as a soda, so I don’t feel weird or guilty drinking it in the morning. As I stated earlier, it’s more like a fruity drink with a light touch of carbonation.
I even like the mango Brain Pop (Mango Colada), and I’m normally not a fan of mango.
I can sense the caffeine in this drink too. It perks me up and gives me a boost of energy. It’s a nice change from a cup of coffee.
I am in love with these tasty beverages. Knowing that this yummy goodness also has benefits (vitamins, minerals…) makes it even better.
If you are looking for the perfect non-alcoholic summer time drink that hydrates you and you’d be happy to share at your next get together, check out Brain Pop. Your guests will appreciate the delicious non-soda, non-alcohol option.
